question on 2 usb ports in car. do both connect to android display

question Honda civic ex 2020 has 2 usb ports one near dashboard and one under cup holder in console. The one near dashboard recognized my android phone. great. The 2nd usb port in console under cup holder charges my phone okay but it not recognizing my android auto. Is this the feature of the car that the 2nd usb only charges , or is it broken. salesman said had 2 usb ports

You salesman was right as you already acknowledged. You do have two USB ports. The one under the dash is for charging AND AA/Carplay while the one in the cup holder area is powered and will read a USB drive.

Updated because I was reminded about the USB drive functionality.

The usb near cup holder will recognise a thumb drive. I play my music from there.

Funny I forgot about that because my console has been off for so long from installing a new shifter. I had a USB drive installed in there too.

So the usb under the radio is that for car play and not charging cuz i only have that which sucks

The one under the radio is for CarPlay/Andriod Audio and also charges.

Has anyone ever tried or know if you can put a USB adapter on the AA/CarPlay port to make it multiple usb if it would still recognize the Play features? Like a usb hub.

I always felt that USB was completely useless, but thank you for correcting me.

EDIT: I think they should have made that USB moduler so you could remove the USB ports and have a 12v DC.

I'm pretty sure those USB ports are 1.0A so phones that require 1.5A - at least for fast charger - may not work.

Yeah, it's super slow charging, probably 1amp.

Important to add - for US market: the LX model does NOT have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Looks like you have an LX based on your display picture?
