Just my opinion, but I think for the 10th Gen Si, Honda should have made a Hatch version (like they did the Sports Hatch). I normally don't notice cars around me, but I have to say, this car looks great! I love the design, I think Toyota did a great job, except for the fake tips.

Agree with me that Honda should have made an Si Hatch version?

Honda also "should" have given the Si more power this generation. Simply because it would have been easy to put in one of their 2.0L engines instead of the 1.5L.
As others have said, it appears that Honda was deliberately making sure the Si doesn't tempt away any potential Type-R buyers (which they likely make more profit on). Type-R makes 100 more hp and torque than the Si (wouldn't 75 or 50 more hp have been plenty?), Type-R only comes in the one body-style the Si doesn't, Type-R gets much more distinct styling cues from the other trims than the Si does, is the only Civic trim with a 2.0T, etc.

The XSE Corolla Hatch is a fantastic little car considering what Corollas were in the past, but it’s still not at the Si level. A TRD trim would put it there probably, but that’s debatable.

The Si has traditionally only been in sedan and coupe form as of late in the US anyways (8th gen and upwards)

Yes, I was not considering performance as one of the factors, as the Corolla only has 170 HP, I was admiring only the looks and that I think Honda should have built an Si in hatch form for the 10th gen. I personally don't think it would have taken away Type R buyers, because they are still cars in different classes

One thing I do want to add...it's fit and finish is a lot better than the 2017-2019 (we have yet to see with the 2020). I rode in one, and it is a lot more refined, and there was a lot more effort put into fit and finish

Admittedly, I prefer the sedan. The trunk is more suitable for my needs despite the hatch being more versatile.

I think Honda would have done the Si hatch had they not released the CTR in the US.

From all that I have read, the 2.0L would have shot the costs way up, cutting into it's fun and affordable mantra

I prefer a Sedan as well, but I can see the appeal of a hatch to younger buyers, or young families just starting out. My daughter who loves the 2006 Camry I gave her in 2018 saw one (Corolla Hatch) and now wants one. I told her when she finishes college and gets a job, she can go buy one!

The reason I've heard that there's never been an Si hatch is because the Si is a NA trim level only, with the hatch being built in England, so it didn't make sense to build a trim level in England that was only being exported to the NA market. Now that the England plant is closing and the hatch will be built in the US, here's to hoping they'll build an Si hatch.

There's some truth to that, which is why the Si is now being considered as a hatch for MY 2022/23. Though I can't remember if they're moving production to the US or Canada for the next Gen hatch. :dunno:

Undoubtedly the price would have been a little higher, but so would the fun aspect ;)
If they can drop it into a manual Accord for ~$31k I'm sure they could have put in the Si with a ~$27k price tag, which still would have kept it a good $10k cheaper than the Type-R.

So here is the thing... originally in 2018 I was looking at the Civic Sports hatch and the Honda Accord Sport. Big price gap between them. Then I began looking at the Si Sedan, more HP and options for maybe $1 or $2K more then the Sport Hatch. That was a no brainier. If the Si sedan was $27 and the Accord Sport was $31K...I would've probably gone for the Accord Sport. Actually I did find one or two around $28K, so for sure I would have gone for the Accord Sport. Of course I am of that demographic where performance is not the number one priority (I don't track or do a lot of canyon carving), so I may be different from the average Si buyer. Anyway what I am saying is that I think there would be a lot less people on CivicX if the Si was priced at $27K. I'm just guessing

I’ll agree I believe at one point Honda had a SI version on almost very model but still a SI hatch would take away sales from the Type R

It's actually not a dual exhaust, it's a single 2.5" pipe from the CAT and there is a T-junction where two mufflers attach. So it's a single exhaust with dual mufflers. The Corolla Hatch has only one muffler, so why the fake dual tips? I guess it's what the consumer wants...

True my 04 tiburon was the same with the exhaust and it was a V6 but it had brushed aluminum exhaust tips. But on a SI hatch if they made one no HDMI port that’s my opinion
