Yeah I was thinking that I got lucky since they were able to replicate the issue. Now I'm just hoping I don't have to lemon my car.

reverse lock out is normal just put it in first then go to reverse all hondas do that.

new trans will be tight. go easy on it dont bang gears and you will be fine. if you feel it still feels crappy try adjusting the clutch freeplay

I've always gone Neutral-3rd-Reverse in all of my manual cars. Not saying you may not have a problem but it's made reverse smooth in all of my manuals

Since the new trans is also acting up, I would definitely start with adjusting the clutch pedal to engage earlier, since most problems with the transmissions on these cars are clutch related.

I always do too, except I’ve gotten periodically denied moving into 3rd before hitting reverse as of late.

Oof. 300ish miles into the new transmission and 4th gear is locking out on downshifts again. Contacting Honda again.

Honda gave a dealer out here some trouble about changing a 18 R trans with about 50k on it. Initially requested a rebuild as well. That requires special tools most dealers don’t have. So they approved a new box. That car is fixed.

What RallyeX said. True. Dealers are humans too. They just go by recommendations of American Honda.

I believe that car was in the shop the same time I had mines being torn apart for assessment. From what I was told the new trans started grinding again after 5k miles per that owner. They were already giving him grief while the car was still under warranty as well when the first trans had issues from the very beginning.

Sheesh. What dealership are you going to for this service? I'm not far from you.
