Bout to make a bunch of people cringe over a $35k car, lol!

Just daily driven. I'll wash it in about a month when I get my next day off.

Installed my Auto Interior Technic Alcantara steering wheel wrap after lunch today. Not an installation for the faint of heart or non detail oriented! Went perfectly but just take your time. Love the final results!

Hermann- certainly well done, bravo!

I donā€™t quite understand Honda using this Al Canterra guys design on a steering wheel. With constant contact his open pore suede like design can be worn in less time than typical smooth tanned leather. Dirty hands while driving tends to suck dirt and lint up but it usually cleans up well. Al did a good job on the console and trim areas but not sure his work belongs here, even though immaculately done by the installer above, craftsmanship matching and even improving upon the 2020 R OEM install.

Part of my struggle with this look comes from also being a landlord. I want to attack it with bleach to kill off what might seem like black mold sometimes found in the first couple feet of FL home air duct plenum.

You did good, beyond that, call it awesome, great skill and patience. Itā€™s me being the problem, not with your work, the Corp choice. Glad I got a ā€˜19 as I donā€™t see the changes as significant. Also wonder how much weight it gained this year with Honda sensing?

Sorry Mr. Canterra, your work if luxurious but cā€™mon Al, test it out on golf club grips first next time?

Much improved steering wheel grip and feel. To be honest it is very easy to keep nice with an easy wipe down with a microfiber rag with Sonax Alcantara cleaner and Tuff Stuff cleaner for maintenance. I have a Alcantara steering wheel from the factory on my 13' Boss 302 Laguna Seca and is still looks and feels brand new. A little effort and it will stay like new.

Those two cleaners that I mentioned have removed any issues I've ever encountered in my Alcantara products.

Thanks Hpbyhermann,

The key like you said is good cleaning products and maintenance habits to keep Al Canteerā€™s stuff looking new.

History (with poetic license) wise, Al Canterra (aka Alcantara) was born in the seventies from Valencia, Spain. His name has Arabic origiin , Al (the + qan) tara (bridge). He (actually the company) patented Alcantara treated suede Nov 3, 2015. That means somewhere itā€™s possible there a pointy tab, thin collar leisure suit with large visible stitching made entirely of Alcantara circa 1970s. I wonā€™t check it out but bet eBay has several listings of imitation suits in seven colors and 34 sizes, all claiming to be Alā€™s original prototype.

We as R owners probably are a little better at maintenance for aesthetics then a typical non-R or even Si modder Civic owner. This is high Mx w/high reward for looking sweet vs. not cleaning it regularly unless dripping. Oils, probably of French Fry origin usually smooth down suede-like fibers and look greasy before long. Mr Cantara got it right for durability apparently as did you.

Having said that, I donā€™t think this is the next big mainstream auto feature or trend vs little to no work required for reg leather or most synthetics.

Maybe if we had the ability to set a 1k mile Maintenance Minder of, ā€œSteering Wheel Routine Cleaning Suggestedā€ but some people would think thereā€™s a sensor seeing if theyā€™re slobs.

Thanks for sharing cleaning products and your fine install skills that could put this higher/lower on the degree of difficulty scale for others based on patience and ones attention to detail.

Ok, so what are you getting? Don't leave us hanging!
I'm going to try the Mach-E
See how I will like the life of electric car.
I'm very skeptical, but I don't like the way the Norwegian government punish us driving fossil fuel.
