This truly has been a sad decade where the coupes/sedans are slowly disappearing and being replaced by the land yacht suvs and mini-land yacht crossovers. So much more sexiness available back in the 90s
You still have to give Honda credit for keeping all body design for the civic I thought by 2020 they would drop the coupe but they still have it

I'm 60, soon to be 61. You might guess by my board name all i ever owned was Civics, but my 1st 3 cars were american. 63 Ford Fairlane, 72 Plymouth Duster and a 76 Pontiac Ventura. None of them fast or even quick cars but the Ventura had a 260ci V8 lol. Jump to 85, the Ventura died with 130k on it, my older brother became a Honda mechanic around 1980 and convinced me to check out the Civic. He suggested a Crx but it seemed too small to me, so ended up with a new Civic 1500S hatch that i put 265,000 miles on in 15 years before the frame rusted away on the front end. It was rusty, it had a small hole in the driver floor but everything still worked on it, biggest repair was the a/c compressor replacement.
I was sold, only have ever had Hondas since and everyone has been damn reliable. The 2001-2015 Civics style didnt interest me much, but when i saw the EPG Gen X concept, i pretty much was determined to get it, even though i didnt need a new car at the time.
I wont say its fast, but its the quickest car i have ever owned and with Ktuner its really fun to drive! 85,000 miles already and its been rock solid.
If some have the opinion that 60 may be too old to own a car like this, i could give 2 shits about that. The only people i care about are the ones i love.
Would love to have an R, but its out of my price range and i really don't want a MT anymore.
Did i mention TURBO? FTW!

My oldest sister first new car was a 1972 Plymouth Duster I remember when she got it I was four years old because in the dealership was a red roadrunner as a four year old I like the cartoon roadrunner on the side of the car

I’ve noticed since I’ve been on the civicx forum there’s a lot of older people that own civics I’m not talking about a base model LX ( which is pretty nice for a base model) I’m talking about 1.5 turbos and SI’s and TYPE Rs and tuning them most of the older members have 10 to 20 years over me I’m 51 going on 52.
Is it that we all remembered the civic as a small econo box from the 70s and 80s and it’s now a cool looking machine ( all body models) ?
Is it that you can tune them ?
Or is it that it’s still is a affordable economy car that’s practical and fun to drive?
For me as I posted before in 2018 as I was turning 50 years old I wanted a turbocharged coupe and Honda had one as the civic. Some people said it’s a ricer car and tuner car maybe so. I’ll have a K-tuner in the near future and the only music coming out of the stereo in my civic is Rush and joe satriani
Man, I've been lucky to own Hondas since the mid-80s. Your question which I bolded is exactly the reason why I prefer Hondas. Plus their overall reliability, too. I've owned Lexus RXs, VW GTI and a slew of other brands domestic and Japanese. But I always keep coming back or holding on to my Hondas.

OBD-I, Baby.

I tried every hot air intake available on eBay. Of course, they all were terrible. But I didn't have to constantly fight with the CEL.

I saw an older lady, looked to be around 60 - 70 years old, driving a red coupe once. When she hopped out of the car, I was not expecting an old lady lol. For me though, I haven't seen many older people with Civics. If they do have one, it looks as if they either don't have much money or don't want to spend much money on a car. because they all drive older beat up civics. Personally, I assumed a lot of older people drove nicer cars because they now are retired and have all this money to blow through. Hopefully I can save enough money in my life to maybe afford a weekend car or something when I'm retired, but that's a longggg way to go from now haha.

Where I live it not hard to see older people drive a civic most of the SI’s I see ( mostly sedans) are driven by older gentleman

I'm in my fifties, and I bought mine cause of styling. The hatchback just drew me in, it's more utilitarian? or convenient... it's something that works for me. Funny looking at an R... and bought a EX... go figure

LOL. I'm almost 60. I bought mine for the styling, performance, economic, and reliability. I don't need a BMW or a Mercedes to impress anyone. I am quite happy with my weekend car being an RV.

I don't see why age has anything to do with it. Sort of like choosing the color. There was a thread a while back regarding color & it seemed some people thought/felt that if you were over 30 or something that you shouldn't be driving a red or blue car. I don't understand that line of thinking.

Maybe a person buys a Civic because they like it, no matter how old or rich they are.

It is strange to read how common the Civic is on the other side of the ocean, while here is simply not considered. I have my Civic since 2017 and people keep stopping me on the road for information regarding the car, as if i'm driving a Ferrari.

I’ll put it to you this way. I. Live in Florida which is the biggest retirement state in the U.S especially on the west coast of Florida so these are older teenagers driving SI’s :)
( if you know what I mean)

I’m in San Antonio, Texas. We have a good amount of retirees (low taxes, military retirees, low cost of living, etc). The Si owners I see are youngins. But I have seen a growing amount of Accord. 2.0 liter turbos (type R variant) and driven by the olds. And then there’s me in my fk7 hatch. Lol
