Ok so I hate to ask, but when I look up 8th Gen here's the rim size I see on Wheel-Size.com:
6.5Jx16 ET45 CB: 64.1

Here's the 10th gen size:
7Jx16 ET45 CB: 64.1

Does the .5 difference in width matter at all?

Well, this isn't what I'd call a budget set up, but came out pretty good, albeit pricey.:confused1:
I discovered that Tesla Model 3 wheels were both 5x114.3, and have a 64.1mm centerbore. I had been eyeballing them for awhile, now that Tesla owners have discovered what's underneath the plastic 'Aero covers'.
So, upon further research I found them refurbished for an acceptable price, and went to buying snow tires. I settled on the Michelin X-Ice tires, sized 235/40-18. The Tesla wheels are 18x8.5", 40mm.
On to a couple of photo's. I love tirestickers.com, so I ordered the Michelin man set.:D

I have those tires on a -2 downsized set (15"; I have '17 1.5L non-si) of wheels. I like them. Good biting grip when frozen, better than A/S on mixed and wet.
You must be a hate magnet with those wheels on though!

I actually don't even have them on the car yet. I had a snafu with one of the wheels being off color from the other three. Sent it back, a few days later, another off color wheel appeared. These are just my snow tire wheels, so I decided not to go though the whole mess again, and keep the wheel. Both colors look good, and, if they had actually done two darker, and two lighter, I would have been perfectly okay with it! You can only see one side of the car at once argument in place here.:D

Those look really nice! Good sidewall profile for the size too. If you didn't already know you'll soon find out- these tires aren't very precise on turn-in... Kinda of squirmy above 50F, and lots of road noise compared to stock.
For winter tires with a warranty, they are a beast. Enjoy!

Changed center caps up a bit. Also the plastic rim protector trim didn't stay on, so I'm just going to pin stripe the wheels tommorow.

For winter, not much. Especially if you go for the 205 instead of 215.

215's fit on anything from 6 to 7.5 from what I've seen.

I have Toyo Observe G3 Ice studded tires.

They grip well, and drive well. Got me out of my unplowed driveway (sometimes street too) with snow up to the rocker panels many times. Handle high speed in deep snow with confidence.

But they're loud, like 4 dead wheel bearings loud. Studded tires have a tendency to skid a bit on bare pavement.

This'll be my 4th winter with them. Tread depth is good. Studs still have some sharpness. Some have popped out (didn't break-in) but on ice you see the claw marks.

The loudness makes me want to try another studded tire next time, but their performance makes me think twice. Never drove on a Hakka, might try a studded Hakka next time.

Hey guys I've done a bit of searching and I can't really figure out what I should do for my winter set up. I'm looking at buying a different set of wheels that wont look too ugly and keep a flush look. I'm thinking of going down to 17's, but not really sure on the diameter, offset, and tire size. I don't know a whole lot about wheels so any help would be great :p

I'm on 18x9.5 +38 - 245/40/18 with Eibach Sportlines right now :)

Edit:
If I'm looking at this right then 17x8 +38 - 215/50/17 +38 would roughly be the same height as my current set up.. Also, is this decent enough for some light snow/ice? Should I look at getting 16's?

Thanks!

Last year I ran 18x8 +32 on my Type R with Michelin X-Ice 245/40/18 and it rode better than the stock conti tires on the stupid 20" wheels. The michelin x-ice did a great job in the snow and did not let me down. I highly recommend 18's over 20'' oem wheels..

Seems I might have to drive my type r this winter again (unfortunately) i am going to get Blizzaks 255/35/18
