Had the auto brake feature for 2 and a bit years now and I turned it off quickly. I had a couple of false alarms which unnerved me, slammed the anchors on when I knew what I was doing and was plenty of room. Turned off you still get the amber flashing and alarm on the dash which HAS helped for sure countless times...

Other features are great though. Doesn't make you lazy, makes u wanna stay ahead of intervention to be honest

People are hiding behind the nannies justifying why they shouldn't get a 2020 in their mind. They can all be switched off!!
Sounds like they are working good for you and that's great. I just see too many distracted drivers around here and believe it will give some a subconscious psychological excuse to check their phone one more time while driving because "my car will tell me before I crash." Heck, you have to watch people walking because they have become entranced by their phone!

LaneWatch is the camera on the passenger side mirror and doesn't appear to be part of the Sensing package (although I think it is probably also installed on all cars with the sensing package). There is a list of features which fall under the "Honda Sensing" banner in the Australian brochure:

Lane Keep Assist which is what you're describing, is.
True, my mistake. Then the Euro version does not have lane watch. It has only "Blind Spot Information incl. Cross Traffic Monitor" which warns you(led in the lateral mirrors /sound) if there is a car on your left/right (including dead angle). It triggers in case you turn the steering wheel or use the blinker.

I wonder how easy it will be to turn off for USA/Canada models. As for insurance issues, if the nannies really do prevent accidents, the insurance risk should be less and the cost of insurance lower.. OTOH the repairs when these cars are involved in an accident are obviously more expensive so the cost should be higher. Also wonder if you have turned off the nannies and are involved in an accident, does the insurance company have an argument to not cover you?

Does anyone know what issues will arise from sensors in the grill if you want to modify (ebay grill)? Curious what people with CTRs or other Civic models with Honda Sensing have experienced. Disconnecting cause error codes, etc?

More importantly, does Honda Sensing have Pothole Mitigation to protect the 20 inch rims? ; )

Expect higher insurance premium on any car with sensing. For reference, my Fit with sensing costs $850/year  but my CTR without the nannies costs $550/year. Both full coverage. My Miata, OTOH, costs just $160/year. :banghead: I’m thinking of dumping one of the cars just because of this.
Wow. I’ve had a completely different experience. My 2018 Accord Touring 2.0T which was fully loaded had Honda Sensing (obviously) and my 6 month insurance cost was around 440$. When I traded it in for the 2018 Type R my 6 month premium went up to 810$. These two cars sticker for around the same price so I’m thinking Honda Sensing had something to do with the price difference. YMMV of course. I’d be curious to see the difference in insurance price between a 17-19 Type R and the 2020. I’m betting it will be a lot cheaper.

I have a 20 RDX and two 19 Civic hatches, a Sport Touring and a CTR. It took a little getting used to the safety suite in the ST and the RDX, but wish i had it in my CTR. My commute is a 40 min straight line, on mostly 1 lane roads. The active cruise & the lane watch are fabulous BUT!!!! Both definitely lower your focus which can for obvious reasons be bad. I notice this more when I'm tired........

I still think the net benefit is there for the aids, but they do give you an additional sense of security that if not respected, could be bad is what I meant to say. A vigilant driver with the aids is definitely better of.

for casual driving i will leave mine on when i get my 2020

‘Casual driving’, what is that? There should be no such thing for someone driving an automobile with a 10 to 1 weight to horsepower ratio, that can stop in 100’ from 60, and go around a corner like it is ‘on rails’, clichĂ© intended. Even in a tamer car, the tendency is to assume that people observe and understand what you are doing, but they don’t. They are poorly trained, if at all, distracted by many other things and not paying attention to what you’re doing, which they don't even understand, or even to what they are doing.

That makes continuous vigilance for the safety of yourself and them very important. The average American driver considers his/her automobile as nothing more than a household appliance that just happens to be outside the house. At least 95% of the people you meet on the road, even those with performance cars of various kinds, don’t consider their driving in itself any more important an activity than opening the refrigerator door to store the milk that they’ve just driven to the convenience store to get. It’s just a means of getting to the store, to work, go to see relatives and friends, or take the kids to school. They don’t pay attention. That is dangerous. Anything that causes anyone not to pay 100% attention to what they are doing when they are driving is a distraction and a peril for yourself and the rest of the public.

Relaxing and being casual is very dangerous; I see it every day. Anything that turns off your sensory perception or makes you think that driving is easier than it ought to be should not be there. Think I picked that up I was learning how to fly, an instructor told me once that if you’re truly having fun instead of working at it, there’s something that you’re not thinking about or doing.

In a panic stop the CTR can stop from 60 mph in 100', not many cars can do that and surely that stop without clutch disengagement is going to stall the engine, does that mean no steering?
The steering will still work. Why will you need steering if the car is stopped?
