That's more or less always been Mugen's thing, though. Their early Civics and Integras looked awesome. But then in the early 2000s, stuff started looking rather... out there. I too have heard the complaints about quality with certain products- you're entirely paying for the name and nothing else.

Mugen is, or was at some point Honda's (official?) performance arm, in Japan. If that is true, I'm surprised Honda associates itself with a company that robs people blind and doesn't even back it up with amazing product quality. Seems counter to what Honda is all about.

It's been roughly this expensive for quite sometime, maybe not through the rough prices for stuff. When was the last REAL car items were developed for any car from Honda? I'd probably say the last R&D time frame was the last years of the AP2 and was the same time the Mugen RR came out. If you saw how much the parts were for the Mugen RR stuff for the FA5 chassis. It was insane at the time too.

There's always a market for this due to people just having a lot of money. Mugen heads that will spend crazy amounts of money for it. I mean like around 2010 to 2013 MF10's and MF7's were worth like $5-6K depending on sizing and were YEARS old at that time.

I personally love the wing. If it's sold in FRP form, I would buy it. Reminds me of the DC2 wing.

I believe Mugen is Honda's performance department for Honda in Japan. I believe it was started by the son. I think we're all just in disbelief due to the fact that the car is still at the end of the day a Civic that is sub $40K, and not a car that has a MSRP over $100K.

Anxious to see installed pics. Can you measure it to see the diameter? Mugen claims itā€™s smaller but I havenā€™t seen any numbers. Curious to see a comparison. Thanks. Enjoy!

I don't have dimensions but there is definitely more girth in the grips.

You guys forget that here in the USA, we get cars for insanely cheap compared to other countries. 35k here is probably 2x that in other countries. So the CTR can actually be a ~70k car.

With that said....

I still think the Mugen stuff is ugly AF and overpriced. I was considering dropping my Voltex wing and buying the mugen one but once they released the price, I laughed and just moved on.

If people are going to pay for Mugen parts, they'll keep selling them with insane markups. I don't think overpriced aftermarket parts will go away until consumers start holding manufacturers accountable for having quality, well researched, designed and tested parts for a competitive price. And it's hard to do that when there is no competition.

Edit: A lot of people are unsure if Mugen is a Honda subsidiary which brings into question if Honda has any control over the products that Mugen puts out.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mugen_Motorsports

Mugen Motorsports (M-TEC Co., Ltd) (ē„”限) is a Japanese company formed in 1973 by Hirotoshi Honda, the son of Honda Motor Company founder Soichiro Honda, and Masao Kimura. Mugen, meaning "Without Limit", "Unlimited" or "Vast" (hence the commonly placed word "Power" after, denoting "Unlimited Power") is an engine tuner and parts manufacturer that manufactures OEM parts such as body kits and sports exhausts for Honda Motor Company. Despite the family connections, however, Mugen is not, and has never been, owned by Honda Motor Company; Mugen owner Hirotoshi Honda has been the biggest shareholder in Honda since his father's death in 1991.
The idea that Honda has any control over the product quality is simply false. You won't see any mention of Taiwan there, so it's hard to say if this is really happening... but if they're exporting the manufacturing of these parts because it's cheaper and still continue to inflate the price of these parts to consumers, it just goes to show how blindly they are robbing you.

Got some Mugen LED tailights, they're made by Depo, and there's definitely some QC issues:

WTF... This in itself has turned me off from ever considering any Mugen part, ever again.

Depo lights are cheap AF. I can't believe Mugen upmarks them 8-10 times for literally the same shit that is all over eBay.

What the fuck are people paying for? Even the stitching I've seen on a legit Mugen shift knob looked kind of shitty.

Don't be downgrading your cars with these seriously subpar parts!

This thread reminds me of some threads back in NWP or H-T when Mugen first started showing up in the US for the early model Civics and such. People bashed and favored Wings West or VIS replicas. I have a feeling the same will happen with FK8 parts once discontinued.
