Hey guys. I searched the forums and only found one thread a year back with no responses, so I wanted to reach out and see if there are any HAM operators or wireless enthusiasts on the forums. If so, I would love to see some of your interior setups and how you set up your antennas. CB users feel free as well although it's quite different than what I'm using.

In my last Honda, I used a lot of wireless surveillance gear.
-Intel NUC running Debian with Kismet & GPS tagging.
-2.4/5.1G wireless de-authentication gear and passive surveillance using aircrack-ng. (Two 15DB omnis)
-UHF/VHF SDR scanning units and also SDR transceivers for communication.
-Custom Lidar jamming unit.

Any (positive) input is appreciated!

I'm a HAM, although I've been out of the loop for some time.
I have however, managed to keep my license up to date(Extra Class) and have been wanting to get back into it.

Is a license required for the things you mentioned? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what are you using those things for?

I’ll just say that it may not matter at VHF/UHF but if you are doing anything in the HF range you may be unhappy. I had a 2018 Hatch EX that had a very annoying interference generated bY the car, it would light up a handheld AM radio in the vehicle, but not in the engine area. You could trace it down to wiring in the dash, but it was so much interference that it was present on any AM radio station that wasn’t extremely close/strong. Honda refused to address it for me, saying they all do it so it is designed that way.

in the end, when the 2019s rolled in I tested one at the dealership and the noise is still detectable with a portable AM radio, you have to be right on the spots in the dash and it isn’t enough to radiate so the car radio picks it up.

I haven’t tested with HF in the car as I sold my mobile setup. I did pick up a little QYT with a clamp mount I use on the rear hatch but it isn’t on all the time. Works fine when it is, though. Just powered from the power jack in the cabin.

I am a ham and I installed a anytone at-5888uv-iii under the driver seat, with the head unit remote to the front console.
