Well put. Now who does deserve a little side eye is Subaru. The new 2020 Impreza sedan is straight up a 10th gen Civic clone. The interior is even the same.To be fair all manufactures copy each other designs The U.S copied European the Japanese copied U.S and European designs for years and now since its the in thing. All auto manufacturers copy any SUV design from a cardboard box manufacturer
True. But I’ll say this No other auto manufacturer tried to copy the 1975 - 1980 AMC PACERWell put. Now who does deserve a little side eye is Subaru. The new 2020 Impreza sedan is straight up a 10th gen Civic clone. The interior is even the same.
The Sonata is a mid-size sedan, so it competes with the Accord, not the Civic. The Hyundai Elantra is the direct competitor to the Civic in the compact segment.Seems like a better car than the lower trim Civics to me, 191hp from an NA 2.5 motor sounds quite nice. The N Line which is supposed to be an Si competitor is supposed to have 290hp+ potentially, I could see a lot of Civic owners switching for better tech, more power, and a more mature vehicle.

That may be the case but the Civic Sedan is a fairly big car now, people don't care too much about how the vehicles are classed. The Si gets compared to the GLI all the time, which is a great car too albeit a bit ugly in my opinion. I still see people cross shopping that Hyundai because the pricing from a Civic Si/Touring to an Accord Sport leaves that Hyundai in a perfect spot. The Sonata is a mid-size sedan, so it competes with the Accord, not the Civic.
