I'm tuned and I love it. But, basically I drive my car exactly the same as before I was tuned. The difference is that the additional power creates a better and in some ways, safer car.

Living in one of the worst areas to drive (Baltimore), I can't tell you what a godsend the extra power is. The ability to easily get in front of slow traffic is fantastic. The super easy highway merging. And most importantly, the ability to power around the occasional dicey accident avoidance situation.

Beyond that, I generally just keep pace with traffic. But there is one scenario that puts a smile on my face and I'm curious if others do the same thing...

Someone in another car starts speeding on the highway. In today's example it was a Civic Sport hatch. It could be an Altima, Sonata, the occasional sport compact etc..

So, I caught up to the Sport hatch and gave it some gas. And he was a little speck in the distance in little time.

After I zoom past them I quickly slow down and just chill.

Am I the only one?

I'm pretty much the same. I don't excessively speed (except the occasional back-road where I know no cops ever roam) and general accelerate at a modest rate. I just enjoy driving the car everyday and get a kick out of the extra power from being tuned. Honestly, I'd probably be fine sticking w/ around a 17 PSI tune with better turbo and throttle response, but when you can get 19-21 psi for free w/ (hopefully) no downside (yes, RIP my clutch), why not??

Well, I just have this urge to "put them in their place". So, I caught up to the Sport hatch and gave it some gas. And he was a little speck in the distance.

I have fun doing this to cars that think they are fast but don't know I'm tuned. After I humiliate them I slow down and just chill.

I drive like a grandpop! Car comes up fast on me, I move over and let them go by. I've only raced a brand new black Type R once. I couldn't let that one go for some reason. Other than that, pure grandpop, move-over-for-the-incoming car, type of guy. *sigh*

I’m with you @gtman . I drive around mostly on map 1 with a couple of spirited splashes a couple of times each week. It’s winter up here and snow tires on...it is really easy to get them spinning, even in 4th. So fun, fun driving will have to wait until spring and tire change. For the most part I just drive normally but love the additional power.

Since getting ticketed, I’ve been slow rolling mostly. But the other day an Accord Sport (1.5t) blows by me on the freeway so I let it go past but I had the urge to chase. I “two-stepped” it until I closed in and then we paced one another for a few then he peeled off and I went back to gramps mode. Haha

I drive the same. I always have my dash set on mpg's and watch it constantly. I usually never get below 35-36mpg per tank. But, if i see anither car i know is in my acceleration specs, i catch up to them and see if they wanna "go bro"? Usually, they dont and just drive conservatively. Not much street racing here.

so this makes you feel good or something?.....you must lead a very boring life

there is a term for this, its called "road rage" and its dangerous

i hope the police put you "in your place" one of these days
I'm not condoning street racing, but what OP is describing isn't "road rage".

So stepping on the gas and passing a car is considered road rage?

Lol, perspective.

I’m used to cars with traction that run deep into the 11s, so a tuned FK8 with FBO feels pokey.

But absolutely I drive it differently than when it was stock.

Stock, peak power was a breath from the rev limiter, so it was more rewarding to rev. I also never saw any need to downshift from sixth or limit my throttle input when passing on the interstate, because the factory mapping kept the tiny turbo in check.

Hondata and FBO, I’m much more gentle with the throttle below 4500rpm, and the power reduces a bit up too, so unless on track, there’s no reason to take it all the way to 6700 anymore.

Hondata traction management is really good, but a full torque first and second gear ROM still requires extra attention.

These FWD cars just can’t be made fast in the bottom two gears on street rubber. In contrast, AWD can utilize full power all the time, even with crazy power compared to what we’re seeing.

There’s nothing wrong with restraint, and 10th gen Civics make up for it with light curb weights and great handling, but I wish they had more exciting and decisive acceleration down low.

in this case yes,

he is passing somebody just to try to prove some point, that is road rage,

if your simply passing somebody because they are going slower then you are, then that is fine,

when your speeding up ON PURPOSE to catch a specific vehicle, and to pass a specific vehicle, that is going FASTER then you are, that is road rage,

anytime you are targeting one SPECIFIC VEHICLE......that is road rage
Dude, how many times are you going to edit your post to try to make your point?

As a member of this car enthusiast community, I'm here to share and help. You seem to be here to be negative towards fellow members. Like this thread telling me I'm road raging or the time you said my engine would blow up due to tuning. Glad I'm not the judgemental, holier than thou person you appear to be.

When I make the ocassional passing move I described... yes, I am going above the speed limit, I will give you that. But... all I do is make a fast, clean pass, staying in a different lane than the other driver.

I don't tailgate, don't brake check and don't swerve. That's road rage. I simply accelerate past a car. Nothing more, nothing less.

Pretty sure I've yet to see Mark11 contribute anything useful to this community besides the repetitive rants about your car blowing up if you tune it.

Mark11, apparently you aren't helping all that much with 100 less thanks from members than posts.
