Yeah that looks like fun. My nearest track is an 1/8 mile track but mostly badass cars go there. I would be embarrassed to show up there. But maybe one day. But yeah better tires would help you a lot. I think my next set will be even better with some lighter rims to.

CVTs were used in racing once by William's before immediately being banned since it gave the vehicles an unfair competitive advantage. F1 rules updated to stipulate that all cars must have 4-7 fixed gears and explicitly banned CVTs from competition.

You can engineer anything to be robust at a cost. My comment was for today's mass-market CVTs available for budget cars since that is what the OP is driving. Not low volume high cost race cars.

CVTs by design (with belts rubbing against cylinders) will slip easier than a traditional automatic (with interlocking metal cogs). I am convinced that the cars with CVTs that were abused will not last 150,000 miles. The ones that are babied and well maintained will go more than 200,000 miles if they are of a decent design.

If you have "L" position on your shifter then it must be specific to the 2.0L. I have the 1.5L Turbo and I only have "S". BTW, "S" mode with the paddle shifters is the most fun you will get out of this setup I think.

Michael, let me explain L.

All the CVT Civics (1.5 and 2.0) without paddle shifters include the addition L program. All cars that use paddles only have D and S.

Ok. So this will not hurt the transmission at all will it? I’m still kinda new to the cvt. I know how it works, just don’t understand why it has “fake” shifts.
The fake shifts are because CVT owners freaked out when the car didn't "shift". So Honda programmed theirs to do this.

And, I always credit @Myx for this, you have to learn how to accelerate using the Myx two-step - it's a technique that Myx has tested and developed and, mark my words, it works. I've used his technique and it's like night and day. I don't do this all the time but when I need to punch it - she goes.

Do you have a link for this 2-step?

Hmm I’ll give this a try. I’ve never heard of this. I wonder how good it would work for the guys that got the 2.0 cvt since most of their power is at high rpm. I know the turbo has a lot of midrange torque.

Click on the threan link @gtman provided. There's vids on that thread too. Not sure if this makes a difference on the 2.0 but I've definitely noticed a difference in the 1.5 turbo.

That's interesting. They did not program my car this way. :hmm: I've never seen it "shifting", always goes smoothly.:dunno:

The reason I think it makes a big difference on his Honda Fit is because it’s a I-Vtec motor in there and makes most of it’s power at high rpm. I use to have one but it was a manual transmission, and they are surprisingly quick. But since this motor is a turbo and makes most of its torque in the midrange I don’t know if the results are the same. I’ll give it a shot though. Thanks
