The key should open the door with no problem at all it’s mechanical
But is it only mechanical for say the DX/LX base trims that do not have the smart key access?

I hope I’m wrong and that they’re all mechanical, but it’s just puzzling that none of the options will work at all and he has a dead battery to go with it. Not even manually using the key. That’s why I say it’s better to let Honda roadside to deal with it. :dunno:

Just a long shot. But I'd try crawling under the car and attaching the positive lead of a jump pack onto the heavy positive lead of the starter motor. The other lead to any good ground under the car. Locks and ECU would be powered up then even with a dead battery.

Trust me it’s mechanical, my battery died so many times

sounds like you need to invest in a trickle charger for $30 bucks while your car is sitting around to avoid this issue happening again while your license is suspended..

Unless both are defective...IMO the odds of that are slim to none.

DId you ever get it figured out? If you haven't I'd go the roadside route and see what they can do.
Not yet, haven’t had the time to mess with it. This weekend I might just jack up the car and hook up a jump pack to the starter

Please don't have AAA or anyone else break in to your car. They will damage it.
Since your car is a 2018, calling Honda Roadside Assistance is probably the best way to go. In the end, I think that they would tow your car to a Honda dealer for lock repair and a battery charge. A nonworking door lock ought to be covered under warranty. If the battery has totally failed, then it might also be covered. If you do get the car started on your own, then drive to the dealer and get the door lock repaired.

On my daughter's 2017 EX-T, the battery dies and the fob would not unlock the doors, or allow me to pop the trunk at all. I used the physical key from the fob and was able to open the drivers door with no problem.

The battery was so dead that it would not even take a charge, and I had to go buy a new battery. The really bad part was that it only had a month or so left on the lease, so I actually bought a new battery for someone else.

I'm just now reading this post and there could be something I'm missing but being that you stated you have an Si (presumably with a manual transmission since I don't know of any auto trans Si), I would caution against crawling under the car and putting a hot wire on the starter. Unless you park the car in neutral maybe but otherwise if it's in gear I would think it might attempt to move forward, perhaps the parking brake is on but either way sounds like Russian Roulette.

I would also agree with the others who mentioned calling Honda Roadside so it's an affiliate of Honda working on the car and they can't blame someone else for doing something wrong. Anyway, keep us posted on how you resolved your issue as this might help another CivicX member. Good luck!

Posted this in other threads but I'm in this exact same scenario right now with my wife's 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback. Key will NOT open the door phyiscally. Battery is dead and it will not open it electronically. If I push the lock button, I can 'faintly' hear it trying to lock the car door but hitting the unlock button, nothing happens. Putting the key into the door handle physically and turning the key both ways do not work.
