Hmm someone needs to start a thread to compare catch can contents at 3k miles. I’ll start counting once I have my car back together ;)
Mine was 3k because on page 2 you guys helped me be able to finally take the damn thing off; ha! Now I check every 1k or so and it’s only a few drops.

Catches lots of snake oil, lol. Silly mod that’s unnecessary in 98% of cars, IMO.

I fail to see the relevance to catch can no? You just wondering as an aside or are you saying it may be relevant?

3 of these ctr guys obviously needed it.

Id switch away from 20 to 30 weight oil and recommend amsoil signature series 0w30. They make a 0w20 formulation too just make sure its ss. Its the best most known oil out there and provides 100% lspi protection.

There are walmart/autozone oils that are incredible and specific made for our dit engines. Like 5W30 Quaker State Ultimate Durability, dexos 1 – Gen 2 API SN Plus, 0W20 Quaker State Ultimate Durability, API SN “Plus” and Mobil 1 European FS 0w40. These two are deceivingly cheap.

Then there is 5W30 Renewable Lubricants, Super High Performance Passenger Vehicle, Bio-SynXtra new plant based formulation especially made for dit engines and made in usa. Incredible oil no one knows about yet. Especially good for racing as it practically doesnt lose and wear protection to 275F.

All mentioned oils are specially designed for our dit engines and contain lspi prevention additives.

Aside from pics of catch can contents i'd like to see pics of the actual valves on higher mileage CTRs. There is a pic floating around of a valve with some carbon at 2k, but honestly hardly what i'd consider a large amount of build up.

Apparently this is a 1.5T with 35K miles. Found it from here. Not exactly a K20C1 but I'm sure it would be similar.
Honda Civic 10th gen Oil catch can waste of money? intake_valves

EDIT: while reading further in my link above, I found this post. Shows an FK8 owner that disassembled the intake manifold at 9,800 miles.

For the CTR it's not that bad imo. A lot worse out there. Would be interested in pics of higher mileage.

@PEPSIFLAME assuming one uses correct oil that is 100% lspi resistant there is no need for a catch can.

However real world data, as you can see in pics, is different with honda 0w20 oil. If thats what you use i would suggest you buy a can or switch to a better oil.

You could also check your ic or ic hose for oil deposits/dry. Then decide. Mine is dry w 18k miles of daily spirited driving, but also different platform fyi.
What oil do you suggest using for 2019 FK8 Type R?? Thanks

I have the Radium two catch can setup on a 2019 w/12,000 miles (Installed it when I bought it new). I just daily drive mine and the amount I get. Looks nearly identical to @fatherpain in his cans. I’ve done one oil change from the factory fill. I refilled it with Amsoil 0w20 Signature Series. I use Mobil 93 Synergy Supreme+. I would definitely have purchased the PCV can but I may not have spent the additional money on the CCV can though.
