Not to take it off topic but the gear crunch is not an actual real issue- it's just shifting before your foot is pressing the clutch all the way to the floor. People are just occasionally moving their hand quicker than their leg that's all it is- the short shifter makes it quite easy to do this by mistake(especially if you are accelerating quickly) and some people let themselves get sloppy with timing. Easy mistake to make(I've done it too) but easy to prevent once you know that's what causes it.
Sadly, untrue. Youā€™re clearly like me, and have a flawless one.

If you drive a bad one, youā€™ll know it before you get 500 feet down the road. Itā€™s a real issue in a small number of these cars. I drove one that was bad from the factory, multiple second gear grinds on test drive. I ultimately rejected that car and got mine instead, and it has never grinded once in over a year of ownership.

Another variant of the R is in the works; I am expecting a possible Chicago Auto Show reveal. It is very possible that this is the Acura S concept, however.

The CTR picked up some minor refreshments, none of which will be looked down upon on. The grill update was almost a necessity as it has been the weakest link of the car.

One thing is true- Honda has sold a lot of R's and it will continue to do so.

I own a 2018 CTR and I will be selling it to get into a 2020. The steering wheel upgrade is sick , shorter throws, "probbaly fixed the tranny issue" more intake flow engine from factory" Honda sensing , "put some nice 18-19" tires and rims you got yourself a good travel car" adaptive cruise, stiffer but more comfort suspension. new shift knob" I am sure Hondata can tune the exhaust note or turn it off completely. Auto rain sensing ,

Better brakes. We might even see a heads up display on the windshield to detect street signs. I still wish the carbon fiber roof was a option. However this update is worth the extra money IMO

i hope we get the lane watch camera as well. Actually we will

whoever owns a 2017-2018-2019 are in denial that the 2020 CTR is the best CTR made to date. Should be the most reliable too since we all know Honda does secretive revisions to engine/suspension and the transmission. Good luck taking in your 2017-2018s into the deal for that recalled wire engine harness known to fail. I bet this car will be shifting even better with more comfort. This car can now easily be a great travel car with some 18s or 19s rims

please buy my 2018

will upgrade and drive the 2020 CTR until 2023 and upgrade to the new AWD STI or wait for the next gen Type R. I bet we have a while to go ,and im sure that carbon fiber roof and phoenix yellow will come . If it doesnt then it will be on the next gen type r made in america not england in late 2022. I dont see how the UK plant will stay open after next year. so it might be 2 years until the next model CTR

I'm happy with my 2019 deal. No way could I get anything like that on a 2020. I'll purchase the vents for mine.

So after further research it looks like the UK plant will close in 2021 which means , I have a feeling we might see a hard corp variant model with a carbon fiber roof , less options in the next 12 months.

Id like to think the last 2021 model which should be announced by next DEC will have a limited run due to the plant closure but will be the nurburgring edition , phoenix yellow . hhahaahah

Looking at replacing my grill with a 2020 and hopefully the rotors can be swapped. Wont be trading my 18 for it.
I donā€™t see any reason why the rotors wouldnā€™t swap over. It might be worth waiting on the grill to let others test the effectiveness. It looks marginally different and I donā€™t see it cooling more than the eBay or ProCivic grills, but I might be wrong.

If the shifter and grill yield positive feedback Iā€™ll update mine.

The reviews will be interesting.

Im sure honda engineers tested it for heat soak, I am curious to know if the intercooler is a tad bigger.

I'm surprised by the Honda Sensing hate. It's a pretty welcomed feature. Canadians got the lane watch and it's fantastic. I wish we got all the Honda Sensing features.
There is debate that the sensing added motors that changed the steering feel, and because of that they had to adjust the front suspension to bring back ā€œsteering feelā€,. But then they also had to balance out the rear as well. And then it was too stiff, so they had to further soften it.

Between this, and the sound control, the FK8 first release is the purest.

The second dulls the experience.

Thus a first release along with a few choice minor upgrades from the second will in my opinion be sought after in the future over a second release FK8 (MY2020).

I guarantee someone will have a purist build sheet here in a few years of the best OEM parts from each R and that car will be put in a bubble lol

For those interested the shifter part number will probably be 54100-TGH-a02

Minor facelift. Most good improvements. The grill updates are subtle. I had to go out and look at my CTR to figure out what changed.

Is Boosted Blue metallic or non-metallic?
