Called dealer to ask about the Civic sedan and he told me the coupe will not be released until later next year. He was 100% sure of this for whatever that is worth. Looks like Honda is trying to sell the sedans first.

I generally take dealers with a grain of salt. Most seem to think late December or, at the latest, early January.

You'll find out much more solid info from here than a dealer. January release is a good bet.

Think about it, If they werent going to bring the coupe to market soon because they're just interested in selling sedans, then they wouldn't bother debuting it next week. They would just wait until later next year to reveal it.

It'll be the same rollout timeframe as the sedan. Roughly 2 months from the time it shows to arrival at dealerships. You can expect it in early-mid January. There will be plenty of other stuff to chew on in the meantime (i.e. Si previews and teasers).

However this matches the other guys post who said his friend who works for Honda stated the coupe will be released mid 2016...

They wouldn't lol. Mid 2016 is two months before MY2017. Late December or early January is the likely target.

Yeah I just some how wanted to hear the salesman's reason. But I guess dpgtime can't answer for the him/her. :D
Rhetorical question I guess. As you said, it wouldn't make sense. The coupe isn't different enough to need that much time. And they'd lose a lot of sales.

Like @05 Si pointed out if they really aren't releasing the Si until mid-2016 they would not be revealing it next week. They'd do it at NY show in April or even later.

By revealing it next week it means it'll hit dealers in 2-3 months max.

Next year yes, "later" next year no. No reason they won't be sticking to the sedan debut-to-production timeline. Which is 1.5-2 months from debut.

Just playing devils advocate.... This is from user Ken last month....

"Ok...so this may have been already posted, not sure. I have 3 reputable sources including 2 dealerships that have ETA for the coupe at March 2016. Quite ridiculous if you ask me....but that's what it is."

Seems to backup the idea that a January release may not be the case... Ken later stated that his 3rd source directly works for Honda in a more important capacity.

Just remember they still have the hatchback, Si, and Type R to show all within 18 months. The coupe and sedan will share the most similarities and least amount of differences in terms of trims, powertrain, suspension, body style etc, and they are the volume sellers so it makes sense for Honda to time the two closely. The Si and Type R as all high performance variants will be spaced further apart. Waiting until March or later (5+ months) just to show a 2 door version of what has already been revealed would not make much sense. Honda has clearly made this Civic X generation a very aggressive rollout.

I'm negotiating on a Touring now. Delivery would be two weeks if we can agree on my trade in value. Touring seem to be a bit more plentiful in Canada. Keep in mind we don't have an EXL model.
