So any update on this ?
You need to make a custom aligment tool or put a bushing on the one you have for the larger inside diameter.

There is a alignment tool that comes with the kit...has black tape around it to make diameter bigger to fit type R flywheel with no bushing or bearing in it

No pilot bearing...is this going to impact longevity/reliability?
No it will not. Eman said that you don't need a pilot bearing and he never ever runs one.

You don't need a pilot bushing.

The factory flywheel does not use a bearing, a bushing is used and it does not do anything with regards to support, operation use or longevity, from experience these things usually over time fall off or heat up and seize on the input shaft and cause a ton of problems ask (spec). Also it’s the same bushing used in the older k series world which in all my experience from that platform dating back to 2007 has always been a issue as I described above.

Here’s mine after 11,000 miles or so. Fx350 was still fine but the pilot bushing just got destroyed and fell out.

Did you ever finish the job? I was wondering about your results? I think it was intelligible of you to fix a pilot bushing to the SMF instead of “just sending it like most. Any Updates???
