I have been eyeing this kit since it was released due to Garrett’s good reputation in turbo technology. If you have the cash I say get it and you won’t be disappointed. The only downside I see is by retaining the factory I/C piping you are somewhat limited on the flow potential of air. This isn’t a real concern unless you are trying to push a lot more power than stock.

I plan on keeping my stock charge pipes.

Those numbers seem pretty optimistic on stock tune, but after pulling the stock IC on my car, I would say changing the intercooler is a good idea. Such a flimsy little thing. Definitely if you are pushing more boost it is a good idea IMO. Wasn’t aware of the Garret as option.

Those numbers are very misleading.

How so? How would one know?

Edward
Because of the word "Maximum". Those are huge numbers. Qualifiers like "Up to" and "maximum" are just there to trick people into thinking they'll get those kinds of results, unless they know better. What kind of conditions would it take for an intercooler to drop your temps by a whopping 60 degrees? That's quite a claim.

edit:

Here are numbers PRL posts for theirs

  • 9 horsepower & 3 ft/lb torque gains by simply bolting on
  • 50+ F degree drop in post charge air temperature at peak
  • Average of 36 F degree drop in post charge air temperature
See how they provide an average and more realistic numbers? That's way more believable.

Yeah that’s true! I have my stock IC and that mutha heats soaks quickly.. I’m sure any after market IC will help. Don’t worry about the numbers just get it. When you get your tune you won’t regret it!

I was told it didn’t make any significant power with stock tune. They did say number was consistent and my mpg surprisingly increase of 2-3mpg. I can not tell you if I felt a difference because it was a week without driving it so I couldn’t recall. I think it a very supporting mod addition with a tune.
