I just took the dealer sticker and the "Civic" lettering off from my hatch this morning. I used dental floss for the lettering, and it worked fine. It did leave a fair amount of the adhesive residue behind though. For the larger bits of that you can use a hair dryer to soften it up some, and then use an old credit card or plastic razor blade to gently remove those larger pieces.
For the remaining residue Goo Gone works fine, and I have never had an issue with it damaging the clear coat, paint, etc. Once the residue is completely gone, wash the area off with some mild soap and water.
Here is the before and after pics. The first pic I took after already removing the dealer sticker. That one was super easy. The car got quite a bit dirtier on the way home from work this morning, so excuse the grime and salt residue.
