I have had the same issue for awhile now. I have yet been able to figure it out. I know it is a problem with my phone though because android auto works fine with other androids that are plugged into my car. But again on other head units, i get the same "connected device is not responding" error. I have done everything except factory reset my phone.

You cleaned the dust out of the connector on the phone with a flat toothpick? Also, use a couple of drops of rubbing alcohol on a cotton swap to wipe the contacts.

I have been having the same issue. Tried 2 new cable, updated the Android OS, still didn't work.

Finally, I went to Honda and this is how they fixed it:

From the Home Menu, go to Settings->Smartphone->Android Auto. Then Enable your phone. Somehow it got disabled.
oh my gosh... thank you for this information I just tried everything for hours until I saw your post and it fixed it immediately! I don't know how my phone got disabled from Android auto on my display! You are a life saver!

I had a lot of issues with my HU when the car was new. But it seems to have stabilized. I am guessing that when Honda updated the software, it fixed lots of issues.

if it happens again, ask the dealer to update the software.
