It clips in very securly. To Remove you unclip putting a little pressure on the mount. Its very secure. How does this mount? Does it come with double sided tape?
...so I made some minor but great changes... I bought the WizGear magnetic mount and replaced the one that the CLEC one came with with the one from WizGear. It is much larger and much stronger and keeps the phone from vibrating/wiggling considerably less while driving. The ball and sockets are the same size and the supplied nuts are also the same so it was just a quick swap of parts. Using the WizGear nut also allows for a bit more range of motion due to the outer size of the nut being smaller. This is now a really great mount.

It sure is! I'm glad you found it to be helpful! Thanks for letting us know!I searched for a solution for mounting my phone in my Type R. When I stumbled upon your post it made the most sense for what I was looking for. I liked how clean this was, and yeah I had to buy the two mounts to combine parts, but the wiz-gears 6 magnet mount is substantially more stable than 4 magnets.
Thank you for sharing @06S2k07Si
I just purchased this same one yesterday (just from the $15.99 seller instead). Looking forward to getting it. How long did it take to get yours?
Question for you! What kind of wireless charger are you using in the top pic? And does it fit in to the oem clec mount that fits over the hazard button?
Absolutely love this mount. Looks so clean! Ended up getting a different cradle with wireless charging and routing the wire behind the trim so it looks completely clean.
Lol this steering wheel cover looks familiar. After a year it turned orange!I just set mine up on the unused buttons on the left side. It's a magnetic wireless charging mount. The charge cable also has magnetic clips so if I want to use android auto instead of just bluetooth I just have to pull the cable out and snap it onto my phone.
Thanks for sharing this as I really like my phone to the left of the steering wheel (always have) and did something very similar. I ended running the USB-C cord underneth the steering column, made a small hole in one of the blank dash plugs, and mounted a magnetic base. Its a simple setup that has been working out well.I just set mine up on the unused buttons on the left side. It's a magnetic wireless charging mount. Thank you for posting that! Exactly what I was looking for. I wanted my phone in that space, I have spinal issues that cause discomfort lifting my right arm up. Having to futz around the builtin screen area is uncomfortable. This will be perfect for me.replaced it with something better:
