I dont think mark was off base, he asked what specifically is awesome about it? Id like to know as well.

So far, per his post, he paid to have his mpgs go down and c/o about it, and that must be awesome?

Theres no pre iat2 and post iat2 so his “awesome” is someone else’s waste of money and time.

The post could be summed up in i spent 100s of $ and feel awesome about my purchase but i have a problem now w lower mpgs, that’s awesome!

I guess I was brought up different.

The guy installed a mod and used the word "awesome" and had a question about mpg's. Seems reasonable enough to me.

Why would anyone then question his verbiage and say he wasted his money? Guess I'm just not a hardass.

Maybe he's right, but you don't have to be an a-hole making your point. Nobody likes to take advice from Mr. Negativity, even if they are 100 percent correct

Its a car forum and he can be ignored too if he bothers you.

Didnt bother me though, its what i was thinking but he spoke it for me. Ive also just learned to refrain from posting what i think more as ive gotten older.

But again, theres an ignore function, in case ppl didnt know so just go ahead and ignore.

On a sidenote, and maybe its time but i propose a pair of Allstate hands for those requiring gentle care, to self identify with. Attached.

Geez, just asking about why this could be happening, not get criticized about what I spend my time and money on. There’s more benefits that outweigh this mpg issue. I don’t even care anymore since what I think is “awesome” is the subject for some reason. Thanks for the ones who’ve actually given useful information.

It doesn't bother me either. But anything relevant he has to say just goes into the wind like a bunch of noise. People on this forum, and in general do stuff, and want to do stuff that I think "WTF???" But they are not going to listen to sarcastic negativity. Maybe they are not going to listen even if you present compelling evidence, but all I can say is I tried, I did my best to warn them. All I'm trying to say is, don't be that guy at work (or school) that everyone just can't stand. They never get anywhere in life, although they may be the smartest person in the world

Can’t know unless you are data logging. If there is a boost leak or something then find out and fix it. Otherwise MPG is highly dependent variable and your methods not very scientific. 34 seems a lot more realistic than 43 anyway, unless you are going downhill off throttle a lot of the time.

Yea it’s depo. The fitment wasn't bad and I quadruple checked the hoses and everything before put the bumper back on. I thought it might be a boost leak too. I did some pulls and the boost was pretty consistent same with af but I’m gonna recheck everything again.
Where did you took your car for the pulls?

How can you know or find out if you have a Leak at your Intercooler?

I have two guesses for the lower MPG:
* Bigger intercooler = more air to compress = more throttle/time to build up the same boost.

* Winter driving conditions = longer warm up times and winter gas blends typically reduce MPG by 10%.

It could be the combination of the all the above as well. Winter tires would reduce MPG as well due to the softer compound .

i just don't understand how somebody can say a product is "awesome" if their car is performing WORSE after they installed the product :dunno:

would you consider your "tune" to be "awesome" if your car was putting out 20 LESS HP?
More power usually equals less mpg. It doesn't mean it’s performing worse

I never said it performed worse. The car performer much better during spirited driving and I’ll take a couple mpg hit. I actually got 39mpg doing the same drive again so yea, this intercooler is very awesome.

I was actually thinking that since it does have more air to move and it’s definitely more laggy down low so I watched my throttle % when driving normal and I definitely push the gas more so that’s what I’m assuming. Thanks for the actual helpful info, much appreciated.

I like how you defiantly push the gas more.. great description, almost poetic.
