Hello, this is my first post and hope I am able to find answers here.

I have a 2017 6 speed LX. Base model 2.0, so nothing special going on but I have had an issue with my reverse gear not engaging. I purchased the vehicle used with 13k miles on it and it currently has 27k miles on it. Ever since I purchased the vehicle I noticed that getting it in to reverse gear was a pain in the butt. Till this day I am unable to get it into reverse consistently without it grinding at least 50% of the time. I have literally tried every method including forward gear and then reverse but again, nothing consistent. I have taken it to two Honda dealers and two independent shops, none believe there is an issue, even after hearing the grinding. I hope someone out there knows what may possibly may be the cause and if there is a solution. Thank you!

I'm thinking you mean notchy/clunky, rather than grinding. The only time it would grind is if you were still moving when you tried to put it into gear.
That being said, It does take some effort to put it into reverse. It's definitely not a smooth transition by any means, but that just seems to be the nature of this gearbox.
Mine did improve a bit when I installed the Acuity short throw adapter and a 27WON weighted shift knob.
The best advice I can offer is to follow the basics. Make sure you are completely stopped, clutch all the way in, and slam it over into reverse.
