Is there a consensus on whether we'll get an Si hatchback with the next gen? When is the next gen Si hitting streets?

If it's 2 years away my hatch will have 125k miles by then, so I'm hoping sooner. If no Si hatch is coming I'd be ok with an updated Sport hatch.

I believe 2021 they will be releasing the 11th gen. Not hearing anything about a hatch yet

And who knows how they will do it this time around. They might introduce the base models first and wait a year before the hatchback or Si like they normally do. But I’m curious on what they got in store for us this next generation

Thanks guys - I may get a 2020 Sport hatch - or a VW Alltrack SEL 6MT if the discounts get nutty (currently $6k, I'd like to see $8k).

Oh really ? Well then who knows what they do for the next gen. But they did a great job on this generation. Can’t wait to see the next

Hatchback Si?
Doubt it.
Since the hatchback has moved to the US for next gen, the logic is it would be easy to make a hatchback Si. Importing another variant from the UK made it not worthwhile. Also the hatchback has been a surprise strong seller in the US.

I think a hatchback Si could be possible. I mean they had them in the past. So I’m like you, it might be a possibility

I'd be surprised, shocked actually, if an Si hatch was released for the 11th gen. It's been sold as a sedan/coupe only for a long time.

Adding an Si hatch sounds good but probably makes little sense. With the hatch, you already have a lukewarm Sport hatch that is not that far off from an Si minus the LSD. And you have the true hot hatch Type R. Why muddy up the lineup with another "warm-ish" hatch?

I say it stays the same with the Si as the hotter version of the sedan and coupe only.

It’s not too far fetched, considering Si hatches used to be a big thing back in the day. Car companies will always try to give the consumer what they want. They could get rid of the hatchback sport and replace it with an Si hatchback. I mean most of the people who own the hatchback sport say if they would’ve had a hatchback Si they would’ve bought that one instead. I’m just saying it’s possible

Don't see it happening as long as the Type R is around. The current gen SI was neutered not to compete with the Type R sales. I don't think Honda will make an SI Hatch.
and I have a gut feeling the next generation SI isn't going to be all that impressive too. I hope so, I mean Hyundai is coming out with a Sonata N that will make 275hp. Thats where the SI should have been or at least 250. Alas, Type R noises.

I think an Si and Type R could co-exist. But then the Sport variant is the issue, having the three of them would result in one being a great value only because it has a better features/price ratio than one, or both of the others and then one would never sell and the bean counters would get rid of all of them as a result. Would Honda drop the Sport trims from a model line altogether?

Now , what if the Sport got the LSD and a small boost in HP? Not a full Si, but better performance than the current Sport? This also opens up the Sport Touring to get an LSD, which would be cool to have the top trim have both performance and interior feature upgrades.

This is assuming they keep making the Type R.
