I'm going to be changing the brake fluid on my Si this spring, going to use a DOT 4 since I do autocross. I know theres Motul RBF 660, anyone have any recommendations?

I've been using Mercedes AMG Dot4 fluid that you can pick up at any dealer. Not crazy expensive, plenty good for street and track use :)

For street or auto cross I like to use ATE Type 200 since it’s pretty cheap for a large amount. For track events I stick with Motul RBF 600.

For track use, I have been exceedingly pleased with Castrol SRF. Expensive but the best fluid I have ever used. OTOH, do you need that for autocross?

I also like Motul RBF 660. As you want more recommendation, you can try Castrol 12509. It can be a good choice for both DOT 3 and DOT 4 specifications. You can see the features of the brake fluid to learn more about it.

definitely not needed for just autocross. Stock brake fluid is just fine if you never plan on doing a track event and just sticking with autocross. You'll never reap the benefits just autocrossing.

I do a lot of it and I've always just stuck with the stock fluid. The fluid never gets to a point where it would boil

Gonna revive this a bit.

What about brembos dot 4 low viscosity?

DOT 4 Low Viscosity
Recommended for the latest generation vehicles with electronic control of braking systems and stability such as ABS, ESP, ASR, TCS, EBD, it is characterised by extremely low viscosity.

My brakes start to shudder pretty bad when I go rip around some windy country roads for 30 minutes. Is this something that DOT 4 brake fluid would help with? Or is this a brake pad/rotor issue?

What’s wrong with Honda’s DOT 4 fluid?

I believe any 600 or 660 DOT4 is going to be manufactured by the same OEM, Orthene, then Motul, Redline, etc. bottle, market, distribute.

I think opening a new bottle of DOT 4 is more important than brand. Brake fluid is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture from the air. I usually throw the bottle away after I use it one time. If it was opened then sitting on a shelf for a year I wouldn't use it.

That sounds to me more like a pad/rotor issue than fluid.

Have been on the track recently a couple of times with my 2020 car and stock brakes. Definitely a bit of brake fade after heavy use but significantly worse mushy pedal soon after the track sessions if I couldn't take a longer cool off drive. I would assume this is a fluid issue although could be a pad thing but the pads worked remarkably well, even when very hot. (OTOH the front pads also are wearing exceedingly quickly and aren't really up to track use). In my previous car which was frankly much harder on brakes (Corvette C5 Z06), I used race pads and Castrol SRF with zero fluid issues. Didn't even bother to bleed between events and only changed annually in the spring.
