Hey guys,

As title suggests, I brought the CTR retro clutch and just waiting to get it so I can have it installed and ship the core back. My stock clutch showed signs of slipping so I decided on this one after weeks of research. I’m slowly becoming a car guy through reading these forums, joining car groups, and going to car meets but i have a couple of simple questions that I need help answering.

1) I have the PRL CAI and the TSP stage 1 tune, both of which I installed by myself with the help of people on this forum and YouTube videos. I don’t think It’d be a smart idea to try this one by myself so I’ll look into profesional to do it but where exactly should I be looking at? On google when I type auto shops I either get tint shops, auto collision repair shops, detailing services, etc. is there a specific name shops that handle aftermarket parts go by?? (Would this clutch even be consider after market since it comes from OEM?) in that case would the dealership be able to do this? I know stupid question, just curious lol

2) Should there be any special instructions I should tell the person who installs it? Any special jargon? I guess if I’m dealing with a professional they should know what to do but I just like to be on the safe side.

Thank you guys so much for being helpful towards a newbie like me!

To start off where are you located?

maybe members that live in your area can recommend shops.

no special jargon. A good shop that know what their doing will install the clutch with no issues.

I currently live in northern Virginia, 30 mins away from DC. Anyone know of good shops around here? Wouldn’t mind driving a couple of hours if need be

bro im not sure because i dont believe this is a typical clutch job being that its bot the clutch that was designed to fit out Si's. maybe some1 can clarify this..

if it is like any other clutch job id say just do it yourself as swapping out 1 in a manual transmission is fairly easy

No offense to the OP but just from reading his post, I don't think a clutch job is something he's ready for. I won't even do one and I'm assuming I'm more mechanically inclined. It's kind of a big job for someone who's never done it before. I'd let the pros handle this one.

the only thing that really sucks about dropping the manual trans in newer cars is having to remove the subframe. its am extra step thats a pain in the ass.

old civics and integras from the 90s didnt have the subframe making it a lot quicker

Not to mention this car ain't RWD. Clutch job on a new FWD car should be done with a very knowledgable friend or professional.

Btw, did you order that clutch already premachined to fit the Si? It seems like you found one that all that work is done already but I'm not sure, because I haven't found anywhere online you can buy one that way.

As for shops, I feel like part of the process of finding shops is going to events, that's how I know the shops around me. I've met the owners at local racetracks or at events like Cars and Coffee or Champcar. Just met with them and chatted them up.

It is just like any normal clutch job. The only thing different is that Eman supplies a washer that you will have to have the shop install under the clutch fork pivot pin. That puts the clutch release mechanism in the proper range to work well. Just tell the shop the words I said and they will know what to do.

When i did my clutch, my shop didn't had to remove/drop the subframe, not even dropping the trans entirely, just a little so he can get his hand into the trans.

I plan to drop the subframe when I install the ACT clutch I just ordered. Partly because it will make the clutch swap easier than working in a tiny space above the subframe but also so I can swap the front sway bar.
