Red light by map lights?

Anyone know what the little red light by the map lights means?

Sometimes it is on, sometimes off.

Do you mean the ambiant lighting by the bluetooth mic? Cant see a light in your picture unfortunately. It should be on all the time, just there to light up the shifter.

I have been wondering about that too. Definitely not designed to illuminate anything, just bright enough red to be seen.

The red ambient light is to subtly allow the driver/passenger to see the console area at night..turning on the map lights while driving can cause problems for the driver.

This has been around since the 06 Si, and on other models in the lineup since. It has also been omitted from the same vehicles during different years of the same generation. I have it back in my Type-R too.

I was thinking that red light was an indication light that Honda sync was on ... Similar to the green light or red light on a GM with respect to on star?

I also have it in my 09 ridgeline. Actually there are a few - it also has one in the center storage under the arm rest. It is just enough light to see a little.

Of course at this point, i need to pull apart my dash - most of my lights on the switches have burned out

Is that the same light that's by the sunroof button? I thought it was a "Hey idiot, your sunroof is still open" light.

But honestly not a clue

my car isn't an SI, I have a blue LED overhead that does this.

Honda's spec list on Civic Si includes "LED Pocket Light". Is this what the red light is called?

Just so we are all on the same page, are we talking about this light?
