I have 5% in the rear 35% in the front and 70% crystalline on the windshield. If your main concern is the heat I would go with the crystalline tint it has an extremely high heat dissipation but I'm not sure how dark they make it. If you're concorned with privacy then 5% unless you're doing a lot of driving in reverse, in which case you have a backup camera to help guide you, I don't see much of an issue with the darker tint.
3M Crystalline is the bomb. I always do 90-windshield, 70-front, 40-rear on all cars that I plan to keep. Cuts down on UV and heat in sunny Calif. But it’s a waste on a car that isn’t a keeper.

I did 20% all around except for the shade band which is 5%. Having a Cw CTR the tint looks darker but not hard to see out even in low light areas

With a sunshade cover it’s pitch black at any time of day. I highly recommend a quality sunshade for overnight use or if you leave your car in the open public. This will keep our the most heat compared to any tint.

Additionally, I have 70% Ceramic on my windshield.

If you’re keeping the car long term, invest in ceramic. Treat yourself!!!

So I just got my windows tinted today. 45% windshield, 20% fronts, 5% rears, all ceramic.

I love the look, I really do... and it seems I can see from the inside just fine as well. I'm just fearing that living in California, I'm going to get pulled over sooner or later. I didn't realize it was going to be that hard to see inside.

Fingers crossed.

That's what I have minus the windshield tint. At first it was hard to see but you get used to it, even prefer it after a while. Whenever I get into other cars with lighter or no tint I hate it. Lol.

I’m personally fine on the inside. It’s the outside and police that concern me.

I have 50% on my windshield, 10% on the front, and 5% in the rear all double layered and ceramic. I agree with those who said that 35% is a waste of money. If you can get away with 20%, I would go that route.

I have 70% on my windshield. 20% everywhere else, one thing I hated when not having tints I felt like people was always starring at me LMAO. But in DC we don't really get harrased about them.

35% Suntek Carbon. If I could, I would go lighter due to the factory glass darkness being darker than most cars.

I have 45% XPEL XR45 on my M3 in the middle of this picture.

Anyone in California with a medical exemption for window tinting?

I have Lupus and plan to get a note from my doctor in order to reduce the UV light getting into the car, but Google is confusing because some places say that even with a note I can only use clear "tint" up front that cuts UV light but is no darker than the stock glass.

And others say I will be given a range of tint that I can use for the front such as 35-25% based on my medical condition and what the doctor approves.

Can anyone here maybe help me make sense of California's law regarding this? It appears Jerry Brown made an amendment to it that allowed for more medical conditions to be covered. But it's confusing af to read lawyer speak.

As far as I understand, any film, even a 90% film, blocks 99.9% of UV. (So a 90% film for visible light is a 0.1% film for UV) So I'm not sure that if UV is the problem you could argue for a darker tint. However, if any light is a problem, that's a different matter.

I found this on the web:
"Ultraviolet (UV) waves in the sunlight are responsible. Some light-sensitive lupus patients are sensitive to the UVB wavebands; fewer to the longer UVA wavebands but most to both UVB and UVA. A small percentage react to UVB, UVA and visible light."

So if you are part of the small percentage that is sensitive to visible light, hopefully to can get tint everywhere, but I'm not sure about the law. If you are only affected by UVB and UVA, then a "clear" front tint will help you because that "clear" front tint blocks all UVA and UVB.

I think 35% is the darkest legal here in Texas, at least for the front side windows.

I believe the back window and the rear side windows can be darker.

I have 5% for my "eye brow" across the top of the front windshield to help with driving into the sun.

How much does that tint of the front help with heat? I've been curious. I am in Texas and I may need it this summer.
