I was advised i can use the hondata basemaps. and normal everyday driving, it drove fine, fuel trims and afr were spot on.Was it on a 27won basemap after install or the same stock turbo base map
as much as i like the customization of the PRL kit, the W1 drop in seemed like a viable option for power. I wasnt going out racing or anything with the upgrade, but more just wanted a little more oompf when driving sometimes. and the difference between stock and this was great. on the +3 basemap, the care drove fantastic. As to why or what happened, i couldnt say. i only used top tier 93 pump gas. I was told that possibly not having a catless DP could effect the rpms of the exhaust side, thus creating more heat.Dammm, so Prl big tubro kit it is for me. I don't want that happened to me so 27won is out of my wish list

I really hope me and xgen just got a defective one. i seen plenty of people who bought the w1 with no issues. defects are bond to happen and maybe it was just our luck lolRegardless if you have catted or non catted downpipe that shouldn't happened. Especially for a turbo that cost 1600$ double the price of a oem, to me it seems the exhaust turbine isn't all that great compared to oem. The OEM turbine has more reinforcement compared to the w1 I'm not trying to bash the company but for 1600$ it should hold up all the abuse you throw at it. Maybe you just got a defective turbo who knows, I wonder how many people who has this turbo had or have any issues like you and xgen
Yup maybe the day you purchased the turbo was a cloudy dayI really hope me and xgen just got a defective one. i seen plenty of people who bought the w1 with no issues. defects are bond to happen and maybe it was just our luck lol
lol, theres a walmart on every cornerYou get your groceries at the track too!? LOL JK

I wish more Honda dealerships would exhibit this level of customer care/serviceLet me answer some of your question here:
Chris notified us of the issue he was experiencing, we went through some diagnostic troubleshooting with Chris over the phone then proceeded to have him remove the turbo inlet pipe and the downpipe for further inspection. With that the fractured turbine wheel was found and we opted to get the turbo back for a full inspection so we could better understand that potential cause of failure. As part of the inspection we also reviewed the ECU calibration that was on the vehicle.
The turbine housing and wheel shows signs of excessive heat seen with discoloration of the housing and the white "coating" within the housing and on the turbine wheel.
The ECU calibration had a target AFR of ~12.8 for Emix. The use of Anti-lag cannot be confirmed.
The findings from the turbo inspection and the findings in the ECU calibration correlate with the probable cause of failure due to excessive heat.
After inspection was complete we advised Chris on our concerns about the lean target AFR for WOT and the issues the lean AFR and anti-lag can have on a turbocharged vehicle. With that we replaced the turbocharger under warranty because ultimately we want our customers to be taken care of.
Despite the cause of failure, this gives us a chance to learn and make improvements in the future where possible.
When I see companies like 27won taking care of their customers, it makes the buying experience questionless. In my line of work, I try and do the same to take care of people.I wish more Honda dealerships would exhibit this level of customer care/service
Strange both you and the Xgen car were on Hondata. I think Derek said that he saw one fail on Ktuner too.Recently I purchased the w1 turbo. my car is stock other then a +3 basemap from hondata on my 2017 civic LX 6MT. fuel trims seemed normal and everything about the car seemed normal (other then the instant jump in boost compared to stock). Theres less then 10k miles on the turbo and the car is driven as a daily grocery getter. turbo failed on me and the damage is almost identical to what happened above. 27won has been super nice about the situation so far and asked for me to send it back for inspection. fingers crossed
