So I got some new wheels with a 45mm offset... my studs obviously won’t work... any recommendations on what to get?

What makes you think your studs won’t work?
You will be ok with the OEM studs, but if your new wheels aren’t a Honda wheel, you will need to change the lug nuts.
Honda wheels use a ball seat lug, while aftermarket wheels use a cone seat.
Any tuner lug with a M12 X 1.5 thread pitch should work for you.

When I put the wheel on earlier only a tiny portion of stud showed through...

Oh, ok. How wide are the new wheels? If they are considerably wider then you may need to change the studs.

The offset should make no difference with how far the studs protrude through the wheel when mounted properly. I've had wheels with 35, 45, and 50 offsets all mounted on the same car with no difference whatsoever.

Are the new wheels replacing factory wheels, or other aftermarket wheels? It almost sounds like a hubcentric ring is staying on the hub, and creating an improper fit when trying to install the new wheels.

Jack the car up and put the wheels on. Put whatever lug nut you'll be using and count how many full revolutions you get. Can be easier if you just run down the lug nuts and count how many full revolutions to take it off. I think 6 full turns is universally acceptable number. On a side note I have 18x9.5" et+45 wheels with 275/35 tires on my '18 hatchback and they work just fine.

edit: also if you have your old wheels do the same thing to them and compare number of turns. That should keep your mind at ease. And of course stay safe.
