I spoke with the dealer today (Day 37 of my car in their shop.)

They said that HQ told them to:

  1. Reset the car’s computers to factory state. Which they’ve done before.
  2. Reset my phone. (I’m assuming they mean delete/reinstall the HondaLink app)
  3. Turn off Bluetooth on my phone. Start the car. Then turn on Bluetooth on my phone. Every time I want to use my car.
Seriously. That’s what they said.

Ridiculous! I have been waiting since Monday for the regional guy to call me and they have not. I have also been waiting for the GM of the dealer to call me and they have not. The local dealer doesn't even want to see my car again, as they told me there is nothing more they can do for me. So I will start a claim under the lemon law

LOL. I met with the General Manager of the Local Dealer and he was pretty apologetic. They're going to continue to escalate my problem, so they haven't given up.

Are you going to hire a lawyer? (I read only it is highly recommended.) Since we both live in CA - maybe we can collaborate on that.

I would be in for collaborating on an Attorney, as the major issue is the same for us. But, I will give raising holy hell one more try. They seem to want to keep me quite on Twitter now.

Holy Hell step 2: Second NHTSA Complaint #10876300

Vehicle has repeatedly thrown errors with warnings to not drive the vehicle and have it inspected by the dealer. The vehicle has already been to the shop twice for the problem. In both cases Honda installed an Updated VSA Modulator they claimed would fix the problem. It has not. Not the local dealer doesn't even want to see the vehicle as they tell me their is nothing more they can do for us. They claimed to have emailed Honda corporate to have a regional rep contact us. It has been 4 days since. They say the vehicle is safe, but yet they don't even know what is wrong with it. The vehicle has a defect they cannot correct, and my car is not alone. Please look at these two sites to see examples: http://hondacivicproblems.com and http://www.civicx.com/threads/tpms-abs-brake-system-acc-freak-out.1002/ Each time the vehicle is not in motion. Each time the error messages appear after starting the vehicle. Each time the warnings instruct you not to drive the vehicle. Errors include: CMBS Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Tire Pressure Monitor System, Brake System Problem, Anti-Lock Brake System, Tire Pressure Low, and Charging System Problem.

Step 1 was some tweeting. Just in case anyone wants to know @HondaCustSvc

I went on Facebook and posted on the pages of Motor Trend, Consumer Reports, The Wirecutter, Car and Driver, etc etc etc about these problems. Feel free to do that too.

I like the idea of NHTSA... gotta go do that.

NHTSA Complaints get factored into a lot of things, so I am hoping Honda is taking note. The more of those they have, the fewer awards they will win and the few sales they will make.

EDIT:

May try here too:

The New Motor Vehicle Board operates a Consumer Mediation Services Program, which attempts through informal mediation to resolve disputes between consumers and new motor vehicle dealers. If you have a contractual dispute (purchase or lease) or a warranty/repair dispute with a new motor vehicle dealer, contact the New Motor Vehicle Board for assistance:

New Motor Vehicle Board
1507 21st Street, Suite 330
Sacramento, CA 95811
Phone: (916) 445-1888

But I am not sure they would actually be involved here.

However there site does contain this:
Overview of Song-Beverly Warranty Rights: The Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act provides protection for consumers who lease or buy new motor vehicles. The law requires that if the manufacturer or its representative in this state, such as an authorized dealer, is unable to service or repair a new motor vehicle to meet the terms of an express written warranty after a reasonable number of repair attempts, the manufacturer is required promptly to replace the vehicle or return the purchase price to the lessee or buyer.

So they are game too.

Hi everyone,

New to the forums and I just picked up my 2016 Honda Civic Touring this evening. It was manufactured in December 2015.

Vehicle only has 130 miles on it. I made it home from the dealership with no problems. It was a 31 mile drive, one-way, and took about 55 minutes. It was my very first drive since picking up the vehicle.

While it was at home, I lowered all of the windows using the key fob. I then decided to play around with the infotainment system. I pressed the start engine button only once. While playing around for a little bit, I no longer heard any sound coming from the speakers. I then pressed the start engine button again to put my car into ACC mode, once I did that the sound returned, but warnings like brake system problem, electric parking brake problem, brake hold system problem, and vehicle stability assist problem all appears on the LCD behind the steering wheel.

I then turned the vehicle off and attempted to close all of the windows with my key in the drivers side door but had no luck. I then tried to unlock/lock the doors of my car with the key fob and had no luck. I started to panic as all of my windows were wide open and I couldn't close them. I went under the hood and could hear a clicking/ticking noise coming from the fuse box near the battery. I could also feel an excessive amount of heat coming off/near the fuse box. I decided to disconnect the negative battery terminal for a few minutes and then re-connect it, but even after doing so, it made no difference and I couldn't do anything with my car. Even the lock/unlock button/switch on the drivers side door wouldn't function. I was unable to get into my trunk to get the jumper cables I had just put in there, so I had to run around and find another set.

I attempted to jump start my car. When I had the battery connected to another vehicles battery, the alarm started sound on the Civic. I was able to stop the alarm with the fob. With the other cars engine running I was able to jump start my Civic.

At this point, I'm worried to drive it, due to the excessive heat coming from the fuse box area, the battery draining completely, and receiving those 4 errors on the LCD display.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Take it back to the dealer ASAP & make them exchange it with another one more recently built.

Thanks. I currently have the car at the dealership now for the service department to look at. It's a 31 mile drive one-way for me to the dealership, however it's right around the corner from where I work. Unfortunately for me, I don't normally work on Saturday's, so I went out of my way to come up here.

I took this video after I arrived at the dealership lot. This messages were displayed the whole 31 miles (45-50 minutes) or so.

Oh wow, I've never seen those on my dashboard. What mode do you have the dashboard set to?

Here's my suggestion - call 800-999-1009 x117762 and leave a voice mail for David (because he's only available 1 in 100 calls). Open a new case, and tell him that it is the same as my case: 04707238

For what's worth, in my opinion there's nothing wrong with our brakes, TPMS, ACC, electrical voltage, etc. I have a hunch that these are all software errors or computer hardware issues. I've been in the computer biz (Information Security now) for a long time, and these seem like software defects.

Again, just my intuition here....

My Civic Touring has repeatedly and randomly thrown between one and seven of the following errors: CMBS Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Tire Pressure Monitor System, Brake System Problem, Anti-Lock Brake System, Tire Pressure Low, and Charging System Problem. After calling Honda Customer Service, they transfered me to a technical group. Per the tech group, there appears to be a compatibility issue with the car and using the HondaLink App on an iPhone. They had me perform a Factory Data Reset (Warning: Customized settings and personal data will be deleted!) using the Display Audio and I deleted the HondaLink App from the phone. It’s been over two weeks and the errors haven't returned.
