The relationship between ignition advance and EGT is not a straight linear relationship. With a little ignition retard the EGT actually goes down. It's only when you have a lot of retard (anti lag levels) that the EGT starts to go. In any case the factory VSA retards the ignition timing and no one worries about that.

I thought factory VSA ignition retard is minimal at best and mostly works by reducing throttle (correct me if I'm wrong) whereas the aftermarket systems use a heavier dose of timing retard. Anyway, thanks for letting us know your TC system is 100% safe for the cat.

With all the support, options, and now the instant jailbreak, I think Hondata is getting my wallet's vote!
Thanks for all you do, Hondata.

So I’m starting to want to get an actual product for tuning. I’ve done a bit of research and have seen the pros and cons of hondata and ktuner but can’t seem to choose which I’d prefer. If y’all could toss in your thoughts on this subject and try to sway me I’d appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
Hondata has been better than ktuner lately

Never had any issues with KTuner w/ FBO. But will probably switch over to Hondata since they have more options, besides who doesn't like having options.
yeah, I think Ktuner just couldn't keep up with so many people working within hondata towards our car...so ktuner may just be at the point to where they see no point and may just concentrate on other platforms

So sluty aren't they
I think they're doing fine on the regular Civics (1.5T, 2.0L non-turbo) where the number of users vastly outnumber the FK8 crowd. But I didn't find their support particularly helpful when I asked them (in 2019) when they're going to enable Advanced VSA support for my 2016 1.5T EX-T and their response was "you need to be updated by Honda." How's that a Honda problem? And I already had the latest Ktuner software installed. No, thanks. I sold the device instead.

It's game over when Hondata decides to offer a tuning device with a screen (tablet) but, at this rate, I don't think they need to.

Instant jailbreak? Does it mean there is no need to ship the ECU for jailbreak?
