Alright, so it looks like I'm about average in my MPG. Of course, I'm still in my break in period so I haven't really leaned into the turbo much. I've maybe 1/3 floored it, but haven't really taken off yet.

Good thing you created this thread cause I'm a little confused. I have a 2018 Civic Sport hatch. When i go through the options on the dash I'm faced with 2 kinds of MPG averages. One tells me that my average is 30mpg and the other one is telling me 26mpg??? So which one to go by?
NEITHER, you do your own math, your computer has a Trip A and a Trip B, each time you fill up reset your trip B (use Trip A to monitor miles driven between oil changes or between CVT fluid changes or whatever you want), use the same pump preferably at the same time of day and refill till the pump clicks off then divide your trip B mileage by your gallons to refill to get your actual MPG for that tank, then keep doing that same sequence, eventually you can map your own average MPG and not be reliant on a computer that tries to estimate based on a mathematical formula of how much fuel should be going into the injectors as they are pulsed which can be upwards of 5-10% off.

the Trip A average gives you the Average MPG you see on the main display, the Trip B Average MPG is only visible when you toggle to the Trip B odometer, since your Trip A and Trip B odometers have been reset at some point different from one another that is why you have 2 different numbers.

Thanks for the info. Makes me feel better. And at least I'm getting better mileage than my last vehicle; 6cyl AWD Caddy SRX that got 15mpg on a good day.

I've been tracking mine in Fuelio since I got it, used. I just hit 20K miles. Mine is mostly city driving, approximately 80%.

  • 4,593 miles
  • Avg MPG: 29.32
  • Best MPG: 34.44
  • Worst MPG: 22.57
  • Avg fill-up: 6.5 gal
"Trip A" shows AVG of 31.7 since I last reset it, several hundred miles ago.

I'm not highway driving as much anymore in the new town I'm in, so now I think I'm around 32.6 MPG or so. If I'm hitting the freeway more often, that average will climb closer to 34.1.

I may have posted about it before, but the best long-drive MPG that I saw was driving from Sacramento to Reno, and back. The downhill portions negated the uphill portions, and then some. Much better than even just leaving it on CC for a straight road for miles. I was close to 48 MPG on the way back, I think?

I havent quite cracked 38 mpg yet but, im only at 2700 miles. The first 1000 miles i couldnt get above 28mpg to save my life. Its been getting better and better as the miles rack up.

Hoping to crack 40 someday. Mostly highway driving and i calculate my own mileage. I found the one in the car to be way to generous.

Around 28-29 MPG on my 2.0 6 speed. Almost entirely city and stop-and-go type driving.

I drove to Disney once from Fort Lauderdale and got around 42 MPG. That's the exception.

I've put 9000 miles on my 2018 EXT Coupe with the 1.5T and 6MT. I drive a mix of city and highway, and I would say my driving style is average... not timid, not overly aggressive.

My actual mileage has varied from 35 to 38 mpg. This was calculated using actual miles driven and actual gallons of gas put in the tank (I keep a spreadsheet... because I'm kind of neurotic that way.) The trip computer, however, has consistently calculated mileage about 10% higher than these numbers, i.e. 38 to 42 mpg.

Anyone else have this issue? I figure there must be an issue with the trip computer's algorithm, but the 10% error is very consistent.

You're getting good mileage for a mature/dead-end technology, let's face it. Unless we're running a hybrid, or reducing weight or emissions equipment, I think this is best one can ask for.

Oh yeah, I'm not complaining about the mileage. My '98 Civic EX always got 32-33 mpg throughout its 20 years and 323,000 miles. I always thought that was great, but the new Civic is definitely a step above. I was just curious if the calculation error by the trip computer has been noticed by anyone else. And along with that, if anyone calculates their mileage independent of the trip computer's figures... or if they assume the trip computer is accurate.

Just curious. That's all.
