Anyone wire the DRL to be be switched off (or seen it done)? With all the Can communication nowadays I doubt it is as simple as interrupting a couple wires.

I find it stupid it is on all the time, especially at night. Also it would fill in one of the blank switches nicely.

In the CR-V all it took was to remove one fuse....

I guess Honda became more hostile to their customers now. I haven't looked into this yet because on the civic the DRL's are LED and less annoying.

It looks like fuse #17 under the hood protects the DRLs. It's a 10 amp circuit. I suppose it's possible to switch it.

I’m curious why you would even want to do such a thing? Is it a matter of just because you can? There’s no actual advantage to it but I can see. It’s not going to add anything to the look of the car having the DRL turned off.

I hate having my DRLs on when I pull up and park if I don't plan on immediately exiting the vehicle. (While the car is still on)

He doesn’t want people to know when he’s hiding in his car doing shady shit.

Same reason people want total blacked out window tint so nobody can see them in the car, even though it’s safer for other drivers to be able to see where you are looking.

Same reason people put a cover over their license plate to make it harder to see the numbers. Which is illegal AF, but somehow people get away with it. What are these people doing in their vehicles that would make obscuring their license plate necessary?

Park your car > parking brake ON > turn car OFF > Start the car again or put into accessory mode.

DRLs will not come back on again until the parking brake is disengaged.

Are you sure? Because I know they come on as soon as you turn on the engine. Not sure why that is a problem though, they are LEDs, they consume..nothing.

I think the car looks better with them off. Driving in the daytime, that is.

I wouldn't mind if they turn on when you're switched to that mode, or on Auto or something... but if you're set to Off, then they should be off.

The scope of DRL’s is not to make the car look better or worse, it is to be more visible during the daytime for other drivers. In EU, for example, it is mandatory for several years now that new cars should have DRLs which cannot be turned off. It’s like saying that you want to drive with the headlights turned off during night-time because the car looks better that way.
DRLs don’t have nothing in common with the headlights stalk being on OFF or Auto, they are a safety feature, for you and other drivers.

I don't know any person on earth who is not made aware of this fact. Regardless, your point is duly noted.

Apparently that is the same code that manufacturers go by here as well, otherwise there wouldn't be a thread about modifying it.

This is not even close, and you know it.

Do I hear an echo?

... they are a safety feature, for you and other drivers.
There are sections of road that require headlights be turned on. I reckon DRL's take care of this. If it's late afternoon, I would most definitely prefer them on myself as well.

Anyway, before December 1st of last year I was driving my 1999 Honda Civic EX, and it had no such feature. Make with that comment what you will, but if you think I'm saying "what was good then should work now," that's not it at all.

Yeah but you have to turn your car on just to idle for a few min. It's annoying and not exactly great for the battery.

Because it's dumb to have lights on on a sunny day and it's also dumb to distract other drivers from a mile away? And because I don't live in a Mordor, Middle Earth, Land of Darkness and Shadow, or Sweden?

I don't understand what the problem is. Whether it's day or night, just turn the headlights on. If you don't want to, that's what DRL are for. Personally, I always turn my lights on, though, since DRL don't turn on tail lights. Sunny or not, having the lights on can help avoid an accident. Learned this the hard way.
