Don't see them announcing Si information next week. They will give the coupe the spotlight for a little while. But I do see them announcing or having a press release about a week or two before production of coupe. Man I am getting amped up!:drive:

My thoughts are that they are real close to showing and or at least giving us some ideas about Si maybe not next week but soon after. My reasons for thinking this are that imo the Si is not going to be the niche car any more. That is reserved for CTR. Why in the world would they want type r and Si both being scarce cars? Si will 99% have an auto option and hp around 220. So to keep up with what honda wants it's newer image to be quality and sporty the Si will be a volume seller.
That's also the biggest reason I think the Si will come with an auto option.

Looking at that pic as close as I can:coffee::confused1:. Looks to be lowered like an inch and they look like 18 inchers definitely an Si Mule! look how the tires look to be up in the wheel well.

I'm right there with you on the Si... really hoping it gets an auto option, and if the price isn't too insane i'd forgo the EXT and get the Si instead for more power and a sportier appearance, even if it's lacking a couple of the EXT features.

Agree as well on the output. i figure anywhere between 220-230 is a reasonable range given the 30hp bump the 1.5 has over the old 1.8.

The current Si doesn't lack anything the current EX has does it?

I think the Si 'may' have more. I think there was a time back in the day where the Si (as a hatch) had 4 wheel disc brakes but the EX had rear drum. They had the same engine and transmission, same climate control, moonroof, cruise control, A/C, PS, Power windows and door locks. Only difference was hatch and drums. The front brakes were identical. The difference was in the proportioning valve.

In the 99-00 years, the Si had the DOHC engine, 4 wheel disc brakes, and Si gauge cluster (8k redline) as the only difference. The seats had a unique fabric pattern but they were not bolstered differently. I think the front brakes were the same.

I'm not entirely sure what is different now but I suspect it is engine/trans, seats/carpet color, dash/radio colors, gauge cluster, and possibly different brake setup... definitely bigger in front on the Si. Unless the EX has dual zone climate control (pretty sure this is only available on the Hybrid), the Si and EX should have very similar or the same features.

Yea my thoughts are the Si will offer more then the EX or EXT since more enthusiasts will want the things like LED lighting and stereo will be standard on Si. Not as much as the Touring but that's fine.

I don't know the bore and stroke of the 1.5T but I will guess the basic block could support a 1.8 displacement, making the Si a 1.8T here in the US. Someone should start a POLL post!! haha

HA! I am sure that hiccup with the Si release that was leaked at that event when they said its slightly delayed had something to do with engine chosen. Something they cant take lightly.

If the Si is an auto only I'm going to buy a used 2005 RSX-S manual, put a K24 in it, turbo it to make 550 to 650 hp and call it a day. Should be about the same price in the end.

Don't worry there'll be a manual Si.

There's a chance it'll be manual only, but no chance it'll be auto only.

Is it just me, or did they silver-wrap the whole car - including the Civic emblem on the back trunk? If so, they didn't wrap over an Si emblem...so I'm going to guess we can rule out Si although this does seem to have some good sized wheels. They must be 17-18".
Since there's no special Si body parts under the camo, there doesn't need to be an Si badge either. But that begs the question then why camouflage the car if there's no exterior Si identifying parts underneath. Wish we had a side and front shot, which would be very telling.
I'm not so sure about that... the coupe and sedan trunks are actually pretty radically different. The sedan trunk is alot wider and has the flares at either side and it lays almost flat on the top. The coupe trunk is alot narrower and shorter and tapers downward on the sides, plus it has the LED bar across the top edge which sticks up an inch or two as well. They'll both need their own spoiler designs most likely.
I see what you're saying. I was looking at the spy photos but just looked more closely at the patent sketches. Definitely different. I wonder how the full wraparound tail lights of the coupe will play into the various spoiler options. The smaller decklid one might just be too low and too small on the coupe rear. I definitely like this one tho. The full width spoiler does a better job of rounding out the rear design too.

Not an Si. It is just a sedan with a pedestal style spoiler that will be announced soon.

Since the Si (or any Coupe variants) is not offered in markets outside of USA or Canada AFAIK, I'd say this car (probably called Civic Sport) will have the Euro 1.5L turbo option with 150Kw. The Thai plant exports RHD Accord,CRV, Jazz, HRV, City, Civic sedan to places like Australia and New Zealand and if it follows the 9G Civic then the spec would be again different to the US equivalent (eg, Thai 9G Civic sedan is only ACE1 structure, R18 or R20 only and standard 5AT with paddles).

I agree with the last two posters - Honda has significant manufacturing hubs in Thailand, that export to the regional right-hand drive markets all the way down to New Zealand. I'm guessing the pic shows a test mule for this part of the world market which traditionally hasn't had an Si coupe as a model option, and will more than likely be intended as a 'Civic Sport' four door. It's good to see clear evidence that the 10th gen Civic development is well underway for this part of world :)
