I used the stock shield/bracket. Cut the whole inside of that piece and made holes that will match the projector. With that bracket you can use the OEM mounting points. As long as the projector is mounted to the bracket straight, you shouldn't have any issues with alignment. I got it right the first try. Take a look at this image. This image isn't mine, but is another member's who I helped with his retrofit. He was patient enough to take pictures lol. This is the way I did it. Thanks to @airickmatthews for the pics.

I was actually thinking about doing this as well! I currently have the drop in h1's and im already wanting more cuttoff and spread. Im so used to the fxr's and s2000 projectors. Did you have any problems with the total length of the projector or is it as small as the oem one?

Length of the projector was not an issue. Diameter of the projector was an issue. You'll need to enlarge the projector opening on the housing. Nothing crazy or too hard.

I was going to do it this way using the universal d2s bracket and measuring it out with the oem.

I wonder if the maxima brackets thats used for the h1 are similar to the d2s brackets thats being made. Or if its possible to retro the maxima to fit the d2s mounting holes.

Hi All!

Planning on having mg headlights retrofitted next week. The shop also mentioned that they can retrofit the high beam as well but they will use led's. Should I take them up for it and go for quads? Or just stick to the stock halogen high beams?

No, leave the halogen high beams alone. The LED will have less output.
Should I go bi-xenon as well? Planning on painting the inside black except for the bowl for the high beams. Which has the closest colour to the Osram cbb's? It's currently out of stock at the shop for now and I just found out the Philips xv2's has a warmer/yellowish colour than the cbbs.

Bi-xenon are great. CBBs are about 5 or 6k. I have CBB in my truck now and I used to have Morimoto 6k. The CBB are much whiter than the Morimoto, but I feel like the Morimoto were more blue than 6k, so...

Went with Osram CBB's with 50w ballasts. We also retrofitted the high beams and fog lights also ;). Will post pics soon!

So when you say bi xenon, do low beams turn into high beams too?

i just saw a tutorial on the bi xenons and was wondering how the high beam would be activated, i guessed by tapping into high beam circuit and guessed right. I didnt know if it was moving the bulb or putting on a second one in the low beam projector, found out it moves the cutoff bar. DOUBLE HIGH BEAM POWWA!! is it really worth it to do modification with the d2s over the easy install of the h1? ill just slap 150W ballasts and call it a day lol

Mini H1s are decent for what they are, but IMO the Mini D2S is far superior if there is room for them to fit. Mini D2S projectors use D2S bulbs, so you can use OEM bulbs and shouldn't have issues with alignment. Mini H1 projectors on the other hand, use H1 bulbs, which are re-based bulbs. What this means is that it's an HID bulb that's fitted to an H1 base, and this process is not perfect and often results in misalignment. Nearly every set of H1 bulbs I've installed have needed to be shimmed to achieve proper alignment, while D2S bulbs have always been perfectly aligned from the start.

Also, you're exactly right about the lows/highs. With bi-xenon projectors, a moveable shield sits in place to block the upper half of the beam. A solenoid, activated by the high beam signal, is used to drop the shield out of the way and expose the remaining part of the beam.
