Waiting for a 2020 Si sedan to arrive. Negotiated a price of $22.2k (OTD just over $25k) and no trade-in. Car will be available to our son as long as he maintains a 3.5. We used to buy a lot of Hondas but they all somehow got wrecked; New Civic wagon totaled when someone failed to yield on a left turn, hydroplaned a Prelude into a retaining wall, and took a corner a little too fast for a NSX. Hopefully the curse is expired and my son(s) get a lot of reliable years out of the car. Initially, I was looking at used cars but they were at most $2k cheaper so we went new.

This is exactly what I want to pay for mine when the time comes. Great price. Congrats on the car.

If you can get an OTD price under $25k, you are getting a steal (assuming you are paying cash and aren't trading in something else). I got mine for $25.0k OTD - tried hard for less than than that but didn't have the patience to wait them out.

Picked mine up yesterday in socal for 26.5k OTD. Not the best price but it was so hard to find Aegean Blue. Either way, I'm very happy to be a part of the Honda family once again

good day everyone!
ok today a dealer offered me a $20,075 OTD for a new 2019 civic sport sedan and i told the other dealer about it. now the other dealer said they wanted to offer a lower price but they need to validate if the offer is legit. i Am only negotiating OTD thru Email. is it Legal to print screen and email it to them?

I always negotiate over email/phone first . When I get a dealership bite, I have them email their pricing with cost breakdowns. I then contact the other dealers to see if they want to offer a lower price. Any dealer that wants to see offer 1, has to tell me they can beat it---before I present it---and I present in person only, with hell to pay if they waste my time.

Worked well for my wife's Toyota purchase. Dealer 2 said he had to see Dealer 1''s offer. Drove over and showed my email to the sales manager. He said he needed me to forward him a copy of the email. I refused.... personal communication between Dealer 1 and me. Told him, "Beat the legitimate offer I have, like you said you would...or I'll walk." And did so at a desk in the mid part of the showroom floor.
He did. We bought the car.

Wow I'm surprised yours was that high. I helped my girlfriend negotiate a 2018 EX-L Hatchback for 24.5 OTD back in May but that's probably because they were trying to get rid of 2018 stock. What was your pricing before TTL?

Why do people insist on including what they paid for taxes and other local fees? Why not compare apples to apples and tell us the price you paid for the car before your state and local government got involved since every state will be different?

2020 Civic Sedan Sport - white exterior/black interior
MSRP: $23,180 (including destination charge of $930)
Sale Price: $20,480
Tax plus Registration: $2,088
Total out the door: $22,568

Loving the car so far. Seemed like a good price because several Bay Area dealers were not interested in matching the price, let alone beating it. Overall pretty happy.

Exactly, I have no idea why people on a forum lump their individual state's sales tax and license plate cost in making it difficult to impossible to get to the actual comparison price? The price we quote here should be the total price the dealer receives which is the price you write the check for, minus whatever your state has them collect for tax, title, and license. Keep in mind that "prep", "DOC fees", "adjusted market value", "paint/fabric treatments", are all part of the price of the car. The reason we do it this way is because people from all 50 states including various Provences in Canada are on sites such as this and state taxes may vary from 0% up to 9% or so.

When actually buying a car in your state, for your "own" ease of comparison shopping, you may want to ask each dealer for their "out the door" (or what you will be writing the check for) price since your own state's taxes and fees will be calculated in.
