Any warranty declined due to KTuner or other ECU tuning tools?

I had to bring my type r in for warranty work (leaking valve cover gasket) and I was tuned, had Honda hack installed and the rest of my mods on the car and they fixed the valve cover gasket no questions asked. The service advisor was more concerned that I gave them a 5 star rating. I'm not going to say they are a mod friendly dealer but they certainly didn't seem concerned about my exhaust, rims, turbo blanket, intercooler, Honda hack or tune. They just kept emphasizing the need for a 5 star rating and they wanted to do anything they could to get it.

this is an proof of CA Honda dealers would dig into our ecu for investigation.

The Infamous 2nd Gear Crunch
All that proves is what we already know, If you have an engine over speed code, its stored on the ECU and they can see it. Engine over speed is from a missed shift, mainly a downshift that you missed the gear, like instead of 5-4 you went 5-2 and over revved the engine. That has nothing to do with flashing your ecu. Engine over speed p0219 would also be able to be seen and cleared by the ktuner unit. Another user said he saw that code on his Ktuner and he used it to clear it.

my point was that the dealers would look into our ecu. with code or not, they can tell it is modded right there.

Dont bring a modded car for service. Return it to stock. Why is this so hard for people to grasp?

Yes, overrev condition is known to be stored in the ECU. Anyone who shifts from 5th to 2nd should expect to pay for it
Not really...going from 5-2 is fine as long as you don't overrev and rev match.

I mean accidentally, in which case it is likely there will be an overrev.

Don't forget to actually unlock the ktuner unit.
I have the same burning smell, but only when I really do a flat out pull on the road. I have a ktuner v1.2. I learned it’s the smell of the exhaust. My friend has a mazdaspeed 3 and when he does a pull he gets the same smell. I believe it’s just the fuel burning when the car is doing a pull
I flashed back to stock, unlocked and sold my V2 as I was just too paranoid it was going to mess something up with my car. I kept getting these random burning smells but then after flashing back to stock and have been on it now for about 3-4 weeks roughly, I still get the smell of burning rubber/plastic here and there but since there's quite a large amount of construction going on (especially on my way to and from work) I feel like it's just all in my head and its the smell of asphault and all that stuff that I'm smelling.

If I make it through the whole winter with still no issues and all that then I may repurchase a ktuner v1.2 and reflash. On the fence about it though.

Why is it hard to grasp why people don't want to take their parts off? If you have full bolt ons it's a major pain in the ass and very expensive if you don't have the means to do it yourself.

Don't bring it back to the dealer. Find a good local garage instead.

People have brought several reflashed cars that had issues back to the dealer for warranty work. I have heard of few denials... other than overrevs which can be determined regardless of a reflash back to stock or if they deemed the damage was due specifically to abuse. I myself have brought my car in for warranty work on a car flashed back to stock with the tuner unlocked... however it was not powertrain related.

If you reflash your car, you should be prepared to come out of pocket for repairs in the unlikely event they occur. If this isn't something you're prepared for... of will make you worry to the point you won't enjoy the car in it's potentially more powerful (and fun) form... then I'd just stay stock and enjoy the car as it is. It's not bad... but I do think the ~50 whp bump some reflashes give are well worth it... even more the more rapid spool and sharper throttle response.

I think OPs question was if the Honda dealerships are able to recognize that the ECU was flashed at one time. Even when the tune was removed before going to the dealer?
