36k miles or 36 months is when our Si’s should have their brake fluid replaced according to owners manual/maintenance minder.

If you are going to get your brake fluid replaced consider purchasing SS braided clutch line and getting it installed, since you are going to have your system flushed and then you will need to bleed it anyways.

Now why am I bothering you with this post? Well I believe that it changed the way my clutch feels. It feels consistent now and slightly firmer which made my experience of rowing trough them gears so much better. Consistency especially.

I didn’t feel much of a difference when I replaced mt fluid with Amsoil. But I sure do feel the difference with SS braided line in place.

If you want to replace that line, 36k mile service is the time. My mechanic charged me $40 to do it together while changing the brake fluid and the line I believe cost me another $40 which I got from PRL very long time ago...

It is simple to diy this, but if you are taking your car somewhere to get serviced - do it while changing the brake fluid so you can save some money.

I think $80 is well worth the improved experience.

I can confirm this. I had my fluid done at 32k. I did not change the clutch line but I did immediately notice that clutch engagement was more progressive, smoother and consistent with new fluid. I was always told it should be done every 30k or so.

Just had mine done at 33k. Haven't noticed any difference. But my original brake pads are still fine all around. Engine braking ftw.

Interesting. When I changed my oil a week or two back, the code for doing my brake fluid was one that was indicated, but at 2 years and 20k miles. I think I have a spare clutch line I won at Fontana earlier this year. I guess I might look at using it. I assumed it wouldn’t make enough difference to matter.

how much firmer would you say over the stock line? 1-10 ? i would like a little firmer pedal for sure, but i'm not looking for one as firm as my 09 civic is. i like that its less stress on my knee pushing the pedal down now, but it for sure could be a little firmer that the butter feeling that is the stock line.

If we consider stock being 1, then I would say right now it feels like 2.5 it is just slightly firmer. But noticeable. And combined with more consistent feeling when engaging the clutch it feels so much better.

I am still trying to understand how this made such a difference...

Interesting thing to note about the brakes... If I get throttle body/brake infographics on my dash and I press the brake pedal, I can get it to show max brake pressure which is 12? I think? while before I could get it to 1 psi only. It brakes exactly the same, I don’t need to press the pedal harder or anything like that.

Not digging into the details the whole combination definitely improved the experience... I’ve put 200 miles of city driving since the change and I enjoyed all 200 of them. The inconsistency of this clutch was one of two things that annoyed me in this car.
