As the title states, I have a windshield crack on my 2016 civic from highway driving. I had the crack fixed and it is no longer expanding. However, I heard from someone that if the car is raised on the hydraulic ramps, there is a chance that the crack can expand out because the ramps will could put pressure on the windshield.

Has this happened to others before? Feedback is appreciated, thanks.

Is this a 6" crack, or a rock chip that is 6" from the edge? Pictures would help. I've never heard of fixing a crack without replacing the windshield, but a chip can be fixed by injecting resin into the chip. I assume it's a crack since it was expanding.....
Anyway... when the car has pressure placed on it the car can flex a (very) little bit....that little flex could made a crack/chip worse sense it is a weak spot on the windshield. Same thing could happen when traveling on the road and you drive over a bump/dip......

Thanks Sman, this was a rock chip which expanded into a crack. Right now there is a crack line about 6" on wind shield. The repair was done by injecting the resin and drilling a small hole on the one end of the crack to stop it from expanding. It has not expanded any further and it has been couple of months now. It seems I will be risking the windshield, I might just go to Mr lubes instead as their oil changing facilities are different.

If you want to avoid the chassis flexing, which could potentially cause stress on the windshield even if briefly, find a place with a lift like this.

The bottom is the type you want to avoid:

I keep clear nail polish in my car. As soon as there is a rock chip, I put some on it and try (with latex gloved hands) to force a little into the chip and tiny cracks around it. Wipe off excess around the chip. Then let it dry in the sun (if possible) for 30 mins or so to set. This prevents it from spreading into a crack.

A 6 inches crack is not safe IMO, you need a new windshield.
