A simple, lag-free infotainment system. Radio and climate controls separated with their own buttons and knobs. Easy to navigate, I was able to setup my phone on it in about 30 seconds. On Saturday someone rear ended my Lexus, so now it's in the body shop, and I was given a 2019 Kia Sorento as a rental. I've never driven a Kia before, don't care much for it, but it has a simple, straight forward infotainment system. Doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, instant on, there was nothing to figure out.

Automakers, here is something you can copy and learn from

I haven't used Honda's infotainment screens prior to owning the 2020, but have used other manufactures. I have found the 2020 Honda controls to be quite intuitive, practical, and not in need of excessive buttons -- because the ones they DO have are effective. The climate control buttons just below the head unit paired with the auto climate knob controller has worked so well together, that I have not ever had to actually access the "climate" options on the screen. The media controls (through the steering wheel no less) have also proved fairly intuitively if I wanted to swap between FM & android auto quickly. Anyways, my two cents is that the 2020 models got it pretty perfect.

I don't get everyone being up in arms over infotainment. I use Android Auto, put my phone in the center console, put on what I want to listen to, and then don't touch the screen. I hate distracted drivers and companies are just giving everyone more distractions.

I was pleased when I was able to put 5.36 GB of Mp3's on a thumb drive, plug it into my Si's USB port, and have them 'plug & play'.
I had to burn CD's to play Mp3's in the Mazda2!
Big step up in tech for this old guy! LOL!

Looks like something playskool designed
That what I want. Simple, intuitive and works. The infotainment system in my Si was pure shit. Took forever to "boot" up, lost connection to my Pixel half the time, laggy and had to many sub screens. If I could have pulled it out and threw it in garbage that's what I would have done

EDIT

Ok, pure shit is a bit strong. I'll change that to frustrating at times instead. Now leave me alone so I can play with my Playskool set

I havent experienced any of the other symptoms you described other than the sub screens. Oh god every button takes you too a new screen. I always forget where things are hidden. Finding settings hidden inside the touch screen is quite the ordeal.

You have a 2020, mine was a 2018. I'm sure they made some improvements. When you see reviews on the Si, the biggest complaint is the infotainment system. You should not have to read the owners manual or have to Google to use an infotainment system

There's nothing difficult about the infotainment besides the difficulty of waiting for the lag. Other than that, I don't see any ease of use issues.

That's interesting. I have a 2018 and the infotainment has been mostly perfect. Does it's interface resemble an aftermarket headunit that you would pick up from best buy? Sure. But it does the job for the most part. However, My other 2 cars have the BMW iDrive which imo is the best in the business and the Mercedes COMAND system both of which are superior in comparison to the Civic's. Having a polished infotainment does bring a sense of class to the car and gives it a more polished look, so i'll agree that Honda should definitely come out with a UI that looks good and also performs a bit better.

How about no... this looks cheap and the screen is small
To be fair, the Civic's UI doesn't exactly look too great either, looks just as cheap if not more IMO (when you're outside of CarPlay).
