I'm not sure what testing a current 10G CTR has to do with a new 11G CTR.

One has nothing to do with the other.

Also, Honda said back in 2016 that they wanted to expand the Type R lineup. They even mentioned an AWD version (as there apparently is room under the car for a read differential), or a GT version. It's been 3 years and nothing. We shall see if 2020 is any different. Thus far, if the brochures posted online are accurate, there is no change for 2020 either.

I'm also confused by your STi comment. Subaru hasn't expanded anything with the STi. The WRX was around before we got the STi. And only one model still carries the STi badge in North America, as it has since 2004. Japan always had way more STis, right from the get go. But I see no sense in applying what is/has been happening in Japan for the last 25+ years, to what is happening in North America. Two different markets. Worlds apart.
OP isn't asking for 11g he's asking for 2020 MY. Different. Honda has a refreshed 10G CTR testing as captured on camera.

I meant Honda will be using the type r name plate like Subaru does sti. Like the BRZ STi edition. Not saying there will be hyper performance models of everything. They will have Type R optional trims with more sporty accessories, suspension, etc.

You're overthinking it.

I'm in the market for a Type R and have been getting quotes from local dealers and out of state dealers for the 2019 model. I found a beautiful Rally Red with 6 miles on it and the dealer is offering MSRP $37,231 with some added accessories like a low-jack, some "special" paint coating, cargo tray, wheel locks, door edge film, I'll be trading in my 2016 Civic EX-T Coupe which is just under 30k miles and making the Type R my daily driver. I've seen "spy" shots of potential cosmetic changes including maybe even different sized tires on a possible 2020 type r. But I know to take all of that with a grain of salt, I'm in no rush to make this purchase and was curious if anything else might have slipped out online about the next possible refresh to the Type R.

So... The 2019 release Nov 3rd for dealers, but this 2020 model has me on edge sounding like it could pop up pretty soon? Is there any speculation on this, if so why would they do such a small release window with the 2019 version?
Well, I just bought a new CTR (getting ppf and tint prior to delivery) so my vote is to pick up a 2019 if you can find the right deal.

This whole thread is comical nonsense and your post topped it off. There’s been nothing released by Honda indicating anything close to the random bullshit you made up. You flat out lied based off nothing.

If Honda stays true to history it will most likely be an addition of Honda sense with minor exterior updates. Honda has never made major changes to a R model and the only power change was a more aggressive intake came for the 00-01 DC2 model years.

All special editions have been appearance items nothing more.

It's my personal belief that the Type R nameplate will go the way of nismo, trd, sti, aspec, and be used to sell more models and accessories.

We already have dealers doing it unofficially.

Who knows, I sincerely hope not though. It just cheapens the brand and the history behind it. I mean Honda does do things a little differently so they may push that norm and not pimp out the R badge to every barely changed special edition with red striping and "go no faster" parts lol.

They have the Type S moniker for that. Lots of go-fast looks but not much more in performance.

Get one between now and before Spring and possible price hike. Summer time will be worst time for buying sports cars. Changes will be mostly cosmetic and minor from what we speculate. There will definitely be another price hike for 2020.

So you make up lies to others looking for legitimate answers because dealers dress cars in a certain manner and your personal beliefs?

I’m trying to understand how and why the made up details come to light.

PS - Honda has HFP for factory options it makes no sense to have a “R” line or whatever.

Everyone is speculating in this thread as you have already pointed out. Just putting my 2c in.

I already gave my "realistic" opinion of face lift and Honda sense.

I'll believe there is no refresh when there is no 2020 Civic type R on the website by the end of 2020.

Wrong company. You're thinking Acura.

Also, wrong. You're thinking A-Spec.

Not wrong. I'm in Europe where we have Type S Civics, Fits and Accords. Basically sport appearance packages but no real performance gains. And, yes, Honda does do it with Acura in North America; however, if I'm not mistaken, the TL Type S of many years ago featured quite a bit more horsepower than the regular TL. Not Type R levels, but nonetheless more.
