Just ordered the pinstripe tape. Cleaned the lip area where the red tape already is with alcohol pads. Then just laid this down. It comes with a application tape over it. So once it’s placed you slowly pull that back and run your finger over the actual pinstripe to make sure it gets good adhesion. That’s it.

Did the diffuser too.

What tape and size? Thanks!

Hello jcp227,

Yes I think so, though I have no data or logs to support this. Just going by feel so take that for what’s it worth. I daily the car and performed the mod as soon as PERRIN_Jeff shared it.

Could be the placebo effect...however I upgraded my intercooler about a day before doing the ACT sensor mod and felt my car was lagging a bit and was kind of bummed. Especially after dropping $850 or so for the IC.

Did this mod and the car came back to life. I believe stronger and more responsive than before adding the IC.

I’ve seen several posts also claiming increased performance.

Added a detailed post regarding the ACT sensor mod on my journal that might clarify some stuff if decide to try it. About 1/4 down the page here:

https://www.civicx.com/threads/fatherpain’s-2018-type-r.42379/page-4

One option could be purchasing a new sensor for a spare (I think they are around $50), then modding your existing one then swapping between to see if can tell the difference ;)

If decide not to mod, it’s still good practice to pull to verify the sensor bulb is not covered in oil.

Did you notice any real value of modding the ACT sensor? I've read the thread on it and I've been on the fence if it's worthwhile.

Thank you and very nice write up with the photos. My R is not a daily so this might be a good winter project and test in the spring. Regardless, I am going to pull the sensor and check it there is any oil residue. I am just shy of 4000 miles on it so I would hope not to see much or any yet.

That's to do the entire lip kit and use the extras to do the diffuser.

So you did not remove the OEM stripe first, but you have put the reflective stripe directly on top of it, right? I remember HondaPro Jason explaining that the OEM stripe is removable, so IMO it would be better to remove that one first, clean the surface and then apply the reflective stripe.

Thanks for the link! It looks like they have a black reflective version too. I can't quite picture how the reflection would look in black, but since I did a pinstripe delete, this may be a good option to keep the black look.
Black pinstripe will likely reflect a yellow/green color at night.

Yes but I'm not expecting this to last longer than a year max. If it does. I'll go ahead and pull everything and reinstall and maybe clear over it. This way in a worst case scenario where I see problems in just a few weeks or months. I simply pull it off and back to stock.

The other way to look at it is that going back to stock is simpler/cheaper if you just cover up the original stripe. As long as it's cleaned well, it shouldn't cause a problem.
If you remove the OEM tape and later decide to go back to it, Honda will gladly take your money.

I was responding about black reflective pinstripe. Only black reflective vinyl I've seen was a greenish yellow reflected color at night.
Yeah the black reflective tape I used shines white. Pretty neat. I've used it also on several trick projects on my Tacoma. Stays on super well too. See the pics. . Anywhere you see shining up white those are normally black during day.
Do you have the part number for the Honda Access Red trim for the front upper grille?
Sorry I do not have the part number. This was the knockoff version from ebay. I do know college hills honda has the ones you are looking for on their website as an accessory.

This is the only part number I can find: 08F21-TGH-000. It was from a UK site, I'm uncertain if the part number differs in the US or other regions.

I thought this was it... And in the installation instructions there's even another part number similar to what tinyman posted but not the same.
