Hey all,

I was driving to work this morning on the highway doing about 75. I believe I downshifted from 6th to 5th and when I pressed on the gas pedal there was no response. I looked at the dash and notice the engine light showed up. There was no response at all from the gas pedal but the engine was still on. I could change gears, but still no response. I ended up pulling over to the shoulder to check if there wasn't a puddle of oil on the ground. Everything looked good, so I started the car up again and it worked fine and the light disappeared. A bit scary to happen on the highway in the left lane.

Anyone have any idea what might have happened? Car has about 20k miles and I have the Hondata +6PSI tune with K&N air filter. No other performance mods as this is a daily.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The gas pedal is actually a volume knob, volume of air that is. Sounds like the engine computer slipped a bit and stopped looking at it. You turned off the engine then rebooted the system.

Scary to think that that could happen. At least you weren't trying to get out of the way of something. On the other hand, I had a '72 Triumph GT-6 that the throttle got physically stuck open during a stop light launch. I had to turn the car off, pull over, open the hood, and physically "unstick" it.

Things happen. If it forms a pattern, you'll have to have it looked at .

Thanks. Hopefully I don't get to find out if it happens again.

That's actually terrifying that the ECU could fail out of the blue like that. Is this something that is known to happen with aftermarket tuners?

Was the CEL blinking?

I don't know, so maybe somebody could tell me: is that potentially an engine misfire?

I'm not stating the symptom of the car not responding, but is that a possible diagnosis of the light turning on? Maybe one caused the other?

I'll see if the error was recorded. Will probably clear up a few things.

Limp mode due to misfire usually displays a blinking check engine light and goes away after turning the car off and then back on.

A normal CEL does not go away like this.

I would say it is unlikely there was any issue with the drive by wire / electronic throttle body system. Something else is going on here.

Happened to me while using my Rolling anti lag in a race with a 350z. While my car was dead and rolling I put it in neutral and turned the car off and back on and it was normal again. I had hondata +6 at the time.

Were you able to figure out what caused it? Did it ever happen again?

I scanned for all codes on all modules and all that came up were the following U0100 Lost connection with FI/EAT and U0122Lost connection with VSA/ABS. Not sure why it would lose connection, but its been stable so far for a 20 mile commute. Will reach out to Hondata to see if they have seen something like this.

No it didn’t happen again. I built up boost with anti lag but I messed up and accidentally let off the gas when I released the cancel button for anti lag. Went into limp mode. Just turned the car off and on and the CEL was gone and never happened because i never fucked up another race lol mi
