They setup map switching. See TSP's website where they outline all of the tune settings right in the description.
I know what they are and I know the descriptions, plus I've driven with them. I also know I wouldn't get map-switching without them. Just please hear me out on the other question regarding the maps themselves, though (and thanks!).

182whp / 206tq - Factory Calibration
208whp / 258tq - Ktuner Starter 23psi
237whp / 281tq - TSP Stage 1 Tune

I don't get whether or not Map 1 and Map 2 are "custom-tuned from TSP" since TSP isn't in the name. People say that Map 3 is "done by DRob." Who did Map 1 and Map 2? Are they not done by TSP, then?

I want to know if I'm using what TSP gave me if I only use Map 1 and Map 2. In other words, if I didn't use Map 3 at all, is there any other benefit for me to have gone through Two-Step Performance instead of just going through the starter packs in the software itself?

To answer your question, all three maps were custom tuned by TSP. All were done by DRob. You get the benefits of each individual map as you are using them. If you don't use map 3, you don't get the extra performance.

Next the benefit of going through TSP is you get their tune as part of a package...for free as long as you bought the Ktuner device through them and added the tsp tune by selecting it.

The starter packs are different from the TSP tune, they also come free and are on the Ktuner device itself while the TSP stage 1 tune is a file emailed to you by TSP, are not on the Ktuner and has to be installed by selecting the TSP file saved on your computer

Thanks for the information, much appreciated.

Now, how do I adjust my BBG so that 5th and 6th gear don't ever enter positive PSI levels? According to the Quick Boost By Gear section with the TSP Stage 1 tune file, I can select (bear with me):

- Custom Boost Level
- Factory Boost Level
- Disabled (29 PSI)
- 10 PSI Boost Level
- 11 PSI Boost Level
- 12 PSI Boost Level
- 13 PSI Boost Level
- 14 PSI Boost Level
- 15 PSI Boost Level
- 16 PSI Boost Level
- 17 PSI Boost Level
- 18 PSI Boost Level
- 19 PSI Boost Level
- 20 PSI Boost Level
- 21 PSI Boost Level
- 10 PSI Boost Level With Ramp
- 11 PSI Boost Level With Ramp
- 12 PSI Boost Level With Ramp
- 13 PSI Boost Level With Ramp
- 14 PSI Boost Level With Ramp
- 15 PSI Boost Level With Ramp
- 16 PSI Boost Level With Ramp
- 17 PSI Boost Level With Ramp
- 18 PSI Boost Level With Ramp
- 19 PSI Boost Level With Ramp
- 20 PSI Boost Level With Ramp

I also don't know what "ramp" is.

It's interesting that despite all of the YouTube tutorial videos regarding KTuner, I cannot find a single one that guides the TSP Stage 1 tune. Perhaps because it's just "load and go," but I'd like to adjust the smallest of items when able.

If clutch slippage begins at 22 PSI, I'd like to limit my PSI to 21 on at least all gears, and not even enter boost in overdriven gears at any time whatsoever. Now, if I limit my PSI to 21 and use Map 3, I'm still getting other under-the-hood gains with Map 3 other than lacking that peak PSI in Sport mode, correct?

Thanks again.

You can't go that low (0psi) using BBG. You also can't change the boost tables on TSP tune.

Boost level with ramp e.g. - 10 PSI Boost Level With Ramp - when this is selected, it will limit boost to 10psi until 4000rpm and then ramp to the max boost setting in the boost tables.

182whp / 206tq - Factory Calibration
208whp / 258tq - Ktuner Starter 23psi
237whp / 281tq - TSP Stage 1 Tune
These are not MAPS of the TSP tune. The first one is stock Si dyno, factory tune. The second is KTuner Starter 23psi Tune - done by KTuner. The third is TSP Stage 1 (in map3) - done by DRob.

It's funny, because I had the exact same question, which Gotch answered here. It at least answers the ramp vs. no ramp piece.

Another thing you gotta think about is that if you didn't own a Ktuner before and you buy it off of TSP, the stage 1 tune is free. Thats what I did and I usually drive on Map 2 in normal mode. Only hit Map 3 Sport twice. Once when I uploaded it to try it on, and once on the highway when this guy in an eclipse was trying me for like 2 miles before I finally gave in and showed him my HDMI port.
Holy heck! HDMI port is exactly what it looks like, damnit I've been driving the car for 3 days now and it never occurred to me.

Looks like Ktuner is the way to go as far as cost/benefit. I picked up my '17 pre-owned (from my dealership) and have been floored as to how much fun even with the snow tires on it is!

It gets a lot of hate for the HDMI look but it is unique. I don't love it but its not horrible either just wish it was a little louder. As far as the Ktuner it is hands down the best bang for your buck if you are looking for performance. It changes the way the vehicle behaves in a way that it just feels natural. I love it so far i've been on it since I got my '18 around 6k miles ago.

I'm going Ktuner with TSP I think, as far as sound I'm pretty sure I'm just going to delete the resonator to get a deeper sound while not being obnoxious. My fart can days are done when I got rid of my 99 hatch 15 or more years ago.

Ok gurus, I need some advice. After 73,000 miles I'm thinking about breaking down and getting a "tune". As far as hp, all I would want is an extra 30hp, but that's not what I'm really after.

What I'm really looking for is changing how the cars feels. First I want to get rid of the "rev hang". Which I understand is a simple checkbox in any of the tunes I can buy.

What I really want to change is the feel when I let the clutch out. The last couple of weeks I've had a chance to drive my parents Camry Hybrid. It is an automatic but still. Every car I've owned (except this one) has a positive "ok, lets go" feel to it when you first give it gas. Even my parents front wheel drive Camry Hybrid has a nice "lets go" push when i give it gas. But not my Si. With my Si, I let out the clutch and give it gas and the cars seems to say to me "oh wait, that is a lot of weight you just put on me". "Give me a second to collect myself before I can give you some power".

Now I'm hoping that getting a tune will get rid of that "hesitation". My question is which tune is better at giving me a firm launch feel. Not a rev up the engine and dump it launch. A let out the clutch and then punch it launch.

Thanx

The issue you're describing is probably the Si's relative torque deficit. A tune will solve most of your gripes, sans the slight turbo/throttle lag. If going new, it just makes sense to pick up the KTuner unit and free Stage 1 map from TSP.

I suggest starting with Ktuner's base map and tweaking your boost limits up to 21.5 or 23 PSI using the Sport & map switching features. And tweak your rev hang & TCS in the quick adjustments. You may find those settings more than sufficient. If not, try flashing to the TSP Stage 1 map and see how things go. Be warned though... anything above 21-ish PSI is likely to wear down the clutch at an exponential rate, depending on your driving style.

Thanks Design. Yes, I'm monitoring Two Step Performance's "unfolding" Black Friday sales announcements. I've also been paying close attention to Advanced Clutch Technologies flywheel and clutch availability. With their unveiling of their clutch and flywheel at the car show last weekend, I felt like now may be the time for me to progress.
My question was which "tune" has the most omph at the lower end. From the discussions, most people seem to feel that the K-Tuner base tunes are strongest at the bottom end, at the expense of the upper end. But I was wondering it Hondata didn't have a good feeling at launch too. Still looking for opinions,

Thanx

I just want to add on to what @Design posted, from a dig you cannot have too much power thrown at the front wheels, and even tuned you may get better throttle response, but most of the power and torque doesn't start hitting until around 2000 RPM. To much torque at the low end is not good for the rods, and will just make your wheels spin as well as cause torque steer. That is why you see the Si come alive after getting out of 2nd gear

I just spent the last hour catching up on nearly a year's worth of posts. This ranks in the top 3 most informative threads I've read on this forum. My conclusions:
  1. I will purchase KTuner v1.2 from TSP to take advantage of the free Stage 1 Tune.
  2. I will only use Map 1. I need this car to last a long time.
  3. Even if I occasionally get a wild hair, I'm never using Map 3. Map 2 is the max for me, and even that will be extremely rare.
  4. This will be a nice addition to the AWE Touring exhaust I'm considering.
  5. Tuned or not, it's likely I'll have to purchase a new clutch during the life of this vehicle.
  6. At the age of 46, I'm too old for this &h!t. I must be having a midlife crisis.
BTW, I got rid of the OEM Goodyear tires and replaced them with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+s today. It's actually snowing here in central NC, so I haven't had a chance to test them out.

Those are the best all season tires you got there. May I know how much you spent on tires along with fitment?
