I got a 2020 Civic Si coupe just over a month ago. Performance wise, all I’ve gotten is Hondata flashpro and did the basic +6 psi tune. Looking for the most reliable way to add power, as I do daily this car. Talk to me boys

Tsp stage 1. And its hard for me to reccomend that with a stock clutch.

I’ve had tsp since 400 miles on my car, currently at 11k and zero signs of slipping, just don’t romp on it until like 3k rpms and don’t work in high gears

its a ticking time bomb, and a well established one. Sure you can baby it and it will last a while. I haven't seen many people over 20k miles tuned with tsp that haven't slipped.

"Reliable" and "power" should not really be used in the same sentence lol. As the saying goes, the more you're on the throttle, the faster the motor/clutch wears down. That applies to both stock and modded powertrains.

Most including me will suggest getting a tune and calling it a day. I really do enjoy the base maps from both Hondata and KTuner.

TSP Stage 1 also gets rave reviews. But you should expect to pair with an upgraded clutch if using heavily. Same applies for the base maps (long term).

Preach!
Fast cheap and reliable. You get to pick two and not the other.

Do you mean on map 3 of TSP Stage 1 or TSP Stage 1 in general?
Map 3. Most of us that get tsp cant stay away from it for long. But you have to assume map 1 and 2 will add additional wear over stock. 3 just makes the inevitable happen alot sooner from what i can tell.

Hi - over 30k miles on my car, and my clutch is fine. I mostly am on map 3. I don't launch or stomp on it in 5th or 6th. There is an entire thread full of people posting about being tuned. Have you seen it?

Thats awesome! I hope mine does as well as yours!

Yes ive seen it and most people dont have 30k on the stock clutch with all those miles being tuned. Imo you are the exception. And it doesn't change my opinion that its hard for me to recommend tsp with a stock clutch.
You have to baby the stock clutch on a tune and beyond. If you didn't, there would be no type r retro fit or other company's making higher handling clutches.

So, for someone who just bought his car and probably doesnt know this, it makes me hesitant to tell him to go "get tsp and he will be fine". When in reality he needs to know the rules of the stock clutch with the tsp tune or hes gonna burn it out.

Hell people on this forum tell you not to go WOT in 5th and 6th with a stock tune. Tsp can be very hard on your clutch. people should be aware.

Depends on the driving style. Some like to baby and others like to abuse.

Also, one should expect the clutch/engine/brakes lifetime to be indirectly proportionate to how much power/heat they are pushing/driving style. It’s just common sense.

I personally found my oem brake pads to be totally inadequate after I went flex fuel. It’s the first thing I noticed and first thing I upgraded right away. Now I can not only accelerate like an idiot but also stop repeatedly without fade.

Stock clutches

Correct. But brakes arent made to last 100k, like clutches are supposed too. Its a little different of a wear item. Clutch job vs pad replacement is like walking a mile vs running a 10k.

That’s fair, I stay in map one and pretty much never go wot in any gear and just like the assurance to have it if needed
