The collision mitigation braking will stall the car if the clutch is not depressed. Safer than a collision ;)

Short of that, I would guess that emergency braking could stall the car at a certain point. My understanding is that an occasional stall doesn't actually do all that much damage to the engine. Theoretically, that might be better than allowing a collision to occur.
I'm not worried about stalling causing the car any damage, it won't cause any lasting damage. My worry was about if the car stalls itself, will you still be able to stop it without brake pressure, etc. I got my answer about it stalling itself. I'm aware that stalling the car is better than a collision, it just seems like a tech that should be used only on automatic cars, but that's all my opinion.

Good write up. This is the way all new cars are heading. Like it or not. Honda didn't just add these new feature out of the blue... It comes from user demand. All of Honda's competition are doing it. I personally am not a fan of a lot of the new tech, give me good ol fashion buttons and knobs!

On another note, I was at my mechanics yesterday getting my oil changed, and this was parked in front of his shop.

I don't know the year, but it has over 200k on it, needs a trans rebuild, and possibly an engine rebuild. Paint is shot, but body is good. Doesn't have any tech, not even ABS. Owner is asking $15k. If I can talk him down, might pick it up as a project car

There are a few technologies still only available for automatics, but in this case, if you're not paying attention and all of a sudden the car starts braking hard, you're going to notice. :p Your reaction would (should?) be manually braking and if you're a manual driver, that includes disengaging the clutch in a panic stop.

In the event that you had a medical emergency, any damage that could occur from stalling (none? Yeah, none, basically) is preferable to smashing into something, another car, a person, killing someone, a family, yourself, someone's dog, even a squirrel or anything else you could think of - IMO. hehe. Whether or not the car stalled during an emergency braking situation is probably the last thing you need to worry about. :)

I think my mechanic mentioned it was removed by the owner. I made an offer of $5k, if he accepts I will buy it. If not, oh well

I think 40-42 mpg is pretty good darn good. The reason I shift when I is because the turbocharger starts to spool up around 2000 rpm and it leads to a slightly higher fuel consumption as the electronic wastegate isn't bleeding off all the pressure.

And Android Auto.. what a mother. It's a great idea, but it's still not 100% and the way it fails is soo annoying. Like needing google maps - even though the car has garmin onboard - so I have to run google maps on my phone for AA to work. Boooo. haha. Or having to disconnect and reconnect my phone after shutting off the engine and starting it again later when I get back to the car. One thing I will say is, the music playback over USB rather than bluetooth is far better sound, so bravo for that.
I just did about 150 miles of driving, mix of interstate, some suburban traffic (i.e. stoplights), a fair amount of two lane highway, and a lot of hills in NW NJ (Sussex County). I consciously altered my shifting to keep the RPMs at about 2000, and over the day the trip computer had the MPG in the low 40s (40 going out, 44 coming back). I am absolutely loving how the car can be quick and fun when I want or need to hammer it, and yet so miserly under daily driving without much effort. It's also part of what's so great about manual versus automatic. In my Jetta I never got near EPA numbers, which I attributed mostly to the type of driving I did (NJ suburbs, tons of lights). But now I'm thinking it also related to style. When the only option is to put the accelerator down, it's a lot harder to modulate keeping the revs at a certain level, and I think it led to me mindlessly pushing it more than was necessary.

I've actually been very happy with Android Auto. The new version unveiled over the summer was a vast improvement, IMO. Once again today I did lose connection, though. I had to reach under the dash at a traffic light and do a quick unplug/replug of the USB in the socket, which did the trick. So I think that's two cutouts in about 1200 miles. If that's the worst of it I'll be very happy. Since I listen to a lot of podcasts I often just use my vent mount to access maps on my phone directly, and then listen to the podcasts through bluetooth.

If you've averaged 42 mpg, that's a lot higher than the combined EPA and think anyone should be happy with that.

What I've found is my phone's USB is disconnecting/losing contact, interrupting things. I had to pull the USB through and loopback up to my phone as it sits above the shifter in the wireless charger. There's not much room to pull the cable through just enough to reach the phone in my case and it's actually bent my new USB-C connector. hah. It's when AA actually crashes that annoys me most. ;)

Are you plugging the Belkin cable into the connector cable Honda provides, or directly into the USB port? How long a cable did you get?
