i know map 2 adds 4 psi but recommends no less than 93 octane fuel
Cause my state only max octane91.I have seen before map1 & 2 are for octane91,just do not know will it cause any abnormal for using octane91.

Last time I talked with the guys at burger tuning they recommended 93 with map 2, you can run map 2 with 91 but recommends 93. I have the same issue, I live in CA so 93 is pretty much non existent.

If I use ethanol free for octane91,will it be like oct93 with 10%ethanol?

Isn't it a Bosch ECU? Makes sense that it'd be similar to euro cars. Personally I don't like the idea of a piggyback but it has my curiousity
Pig backs aren’t bad but it’s definitely not the best way to get more power as we all know. I’d only run it if i wanted to keep the warranty

Ah didn’t realize you were in Australia.

Never been to n54tech so i didn't see the logs. Hopefully everything is fine.

no it's basically a piggyback. what this does is it "fools" the factory sensors into creating more power. Not my kind of thing but it is for some people.

It tricks the map sensor into thinking it’s low on boost and the ecu adds more boost to bring it back to the desired level. That’s all it does, like if i had an f150 boost max works great but if i wanted to race or actually take it to the track give me a real tune

It has recently come to my attention that if you have finance on a bmw and you have made modifications to the vehicle they can revoke finance and ask you to pay balance in full. now that's scary
BMW started building traps back in 08 that is based around fuel consumption. It's very complex because high trims alone do not indicate a tuner. It's a combination of high trims and high wastegate duty cycle. It was introduced in 2008 with the MSD81 and easily avoided by the better piggybacks. To do this requires fuel pressure control and in some cases wastegate control. In additon CANbus piggybacks can purge incriminating codes and freeze frame data before they are stored into long term memory.

The most common way someone gets flagged is by going in with parts installed especially downpipes or things that you can't easily remove. Now into the newer ecus if it detected the map sensor being messed with it throws a ghost code you can see “an implausibility code” if they find this on your ecu. They will make you regret it

How long have you guys been running JB4 on the Type R, is it safe to say it is pretty reliable? Thinking I want a little more power out of the Type R currently only have the PRL intake and an exhaust, not sure I want to really jailbreak my ECU and go all out with Hondata quite yet or Ktuner.

been using it for the last month or two and no issues. if you run on 91 just stay on map1 and if you run on 91 you can use map1 or 2.

Do the gauges move once car is started? Do you have the device plugged into the OBDII port?
