This was my first computer probably got it around ‘90 or so before turning 10... admittedly it was an old hand me down. I played crap games on it for hours...

Rocking monochrome and weeping if you accidentally hit the break button and it knocked you out of your program by ending the basic program that had been running.

Although I was born around the time of Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon, the first president I remember was Jimmy Carter, whom I had the pleasure to meet around 2015 when he visited our company. We were trying to build a partnership with his foundation. Although in his 90's, this guy is sharp as a tack. I believe he was the most honest president America ever had. It also made him a one term. Sorry about going way off topic......

TRS-80. Mine color scheme was a little different... I remember it being more black around the screen. I didn’t search too hard but this one is awful close. Dual floppies, monochrome screen and keyboard all in one (heavy) package. I don’t know whatever happened to it. I think my mom threw it out (along with my Atari 2600 and the 70+ games I had for it) when I enlisted and was gone for awhile. She did a “let throw all of Charles’s childhood away and turn his bedroom into my sewing room” day I guess. I’d of sure liked that Atari to show my kids. These emulator things don’t have the same feel.

My first computer was a Commodore 64 with the tape drive later floppy disk later on I had a pentium 25 also it was a packard bell and yes music was better than until the nineties
TI 99/4A for me. Also had a tape drive - and a speech synthesizer module, which was incredibly cool in 1982

ahh growing up in the 80's. I remember being in 8th grade study hall and watching the space shuttle explode..
When I heard the news, I was sitting in my 6th grade math class, learning about factorials. I'll never forget that moment.

I have not seen the movie, but I remember Big Trax! I wanted one so bad as a kid, but never got one. I did have one of the race tracks you assemble and race electric cars

Reading this thread makes me feel younger again (look, I’m 25 but aging is cruel..).

On the topic of the community, I have to agree that this community largely is very supportive and a good example of how automotive communities should be. I’ve certainly appreciated all the input on my various questions and enjoy engaging with everyone here.

I just wanted to make a shout out to the people on this forum.

Specifically, @arpypat , @cafecito820 , @mjchristian , @charleswrivers , @gtman , and @JDMpo0kie

Whether it be thru fast, honest, and straight forward sales transactions ... or simply taking a moment to reach out thru a PM, regarding a comment I had made about an upcoming trip.

These folks (and many many other folks that I have watched on this forum) give countless and priceless bits of advice, and conduct themselves in the very highest levels of honesty and fairness, when selling parts that they are upgrading.

I can't vouch for EVERYONE on this forum, but I can say that I have been blown away by the level of community demonstrated by the people that make up this forum.

Thank you, forum members, for everything you contribute!
I’m honoured to be counted amongst the named! I’ve only just gotten into posting on the forum over the last year - happy to be able to contribute to the community. Have definitely gotten some great ideas here!

Well I know I am older than you. I was in my senior year of HS. I was in US History and they made an announcement over the school intercom
I'm the same age as you. All through my junior year my precalc teacher used to joke that she would be the first teacher in space, while NASA was recruiting for the program. Guessing she was glad she wasn't picked after all. My high school car was my mom's 1975 Buick Skyhawk, 6 cylinder, 231 cubic inch motor. Two door hatchback, AM radio only, no AC, got like 15 miles to the gallon. According to Road and Track, 0-60 in a neck snapping 14.2 seconds.

My high school car was a hand me down black with red interior '65 Barracuda. OK, I gotta go. Time for one of my naps. This typing is exhausting for an old-timer.

I’m glad the article mentioned that it was a uneven fire (odd fire) my older brother had a 1975 Oldsmobile starfire with same engine the odd fire had a different exhaust tone than the later even fire V6

When I was in my first year of college, l broke the engine mount on my 75 Rabbit racing it, which eventually lead to each gear failing one by one. Not having any money to repair it, I had to use my father's 79 Buick LeSabre, 350 V8, almost an orange color to go to class. I was so embarrassed driving it (even though it was in better shape than my Rabbit), I would park it far from campus. I was embarrassed taking my gf in it, and if I couldn't borrow one of our other more respectable cars for going out, I would make excuses that I was not feeling well or had to go somewhere with my parents. Sigh, sometimes I wonder why God made young people so stupid and vain
