You have a 2020 and already tuned it? As a rule of thumb I think it's a good idea to go at least a few thousand miles before tuning.
I had 1700 miles on it when I tuned it. I drive 110 miles a day for work haha.

Do you happen to have a tune or beta Stage 1 tune for the 2020 ECU? I ordered the Ktuner V2 from your store and received it fast, thanks. Ktuner was able to give me the beta software to get me flashed but I can't load the Stage 1 tune you guys sent.
We typically do not offer tunes on the beta builds since the software is subject to change. Once KTuner gets a final release out with full feature support we will build a fresh Stage 1 file for you.

What PSI is everyone hitting in Map 3? Mine only seems to hit 23.5ish then tapers down to 21-22. Is this normal for everyone?

Hi everyone,

I have the TSP Stage 1Tune (Thanks @Two Step Performance) and currently running on it everything stock, meaning no extra mods at all. Is it safe to run this tune w/ no mods?

Also, I am getting ready to order the RV6 fp/dp from jotechperformance site and then getting the race exhaust from MAPerformance. Once this is all installed, will I have to change anything about the tune, or will the ECU automatically adjust to the new fp/dp & exhaust diameters?

Thanks!

They are trying to have 2020 Stage 1 tune out by the end of this week. I have a 2020 Si Sedan myself.

I have stock everything and iv been running the stage 1 for a coiple of thousand kms... The 3 modes lets you choose. The 3rd mode is where its at but since im setting up for winter the 1st mode is better than stock but iv ran 0 problems and same fuel economy

I was going to run out and do a update/reflash… back when advanced VSA came out... it was warming up and the car wasn't really making so much power that traction was an issue. Now? I'm spinning all over the place in 1st and 2nd.

A question: I don't recall BBG being an option we could adjust back when I first reflashed in July last year. I noticed that there were settings available for up to 20 or 21#... with or without a taper... and a 29# self destruct mode (I assume this is just a 'keep the wastegate shut. I hate my car" setting). It had been said there was an 18# BBG setting for 1st which seemed well suited to the car. I went and selected an unramped 18# for 1st again. I'd been doing that anyway when I was running a modded 23# basemap before this tune came out.

Just curious if the custom boost level in 1st was still 18#... or if it was opened up to the 24.5# map 3 target for most of you (my 24.5 map is map 1). Also... 29#? Really? o_O

Also… can anyone chime in on whether or not they have tried mild vs moderate advanced VSA on this tune and whether it not there was a substantial difference? I'm mainly trying to keep traction in 1st and (especially) 2nd... and I don't want to nerf 2nd by using BBG to lower power all time time.

Oh... and if anyone cares... 16 months on the stock clutch running the 24.5# map daily. Yep... it's fine.

@Two Step Performance wondering if there's any movement on the inverse tune (with map 3 being in slot 1) for the Canadian models. I ordered back in June and was told that the file was being requested and would be sent when it was ready, but so far nothing. I don't keep my ktuner in the car but it would be nice to just auto-boot into map 3 instead of having to manually swap it over every time. Thanks!

Have you ever given it WOT in 4th gear at 3500 or higher? Mine immediately slipped when I did that on an interchange ramp. It's disappointing because downshifting to 3rd at freeway speeds isn't really practical given its so close to redline.

I tested the same conditions on map 2/21 PSI and did not slip.

I don't know about the custom 1st gear target but 4th and above appear to allow too much boost. I tried setting the BBG targets for 4/5/6 but it doesn't appear to have taken. I'll have to try and reflash again.

I left the advanced VSA settings where they were in the file I was sent. It seems to be doing a fine job but I haven't done any 1st gear launches for the sake of my clutch.

I have gone WOT several times in 4th at 80+ MPH speeds after running 3rd towards redline and have not ever experienced any slip. I haven’t driven at high speeds (>100 MPH) due to, well, being old/mature and the threat of losing my job from loss of confidence from being reckless out on the road. Still, I’ve been WOT in 3rd and NLS’ed to 4th when merging and giving it a little more... and the clutch held just fine. All the Tail if the Dragon fun that was had this past April, I made myself stay in 3rd on the Skyway when I was pushing it. There were a few times it was time to shift to 4th to keep pushing and, well... the top of 3rd was fast enough for my comfort.

Whether you had BBG at a default or user provided value or even no value set at all (I assume custom boost level option would set it to 24.5), I doubt you’d ever slip the clutch because 1) you’d still be traction limited and your tires “slipping” would prevent the countertorque from being transmitted down the drivetrain to the clutch and (or) 2) in 1st, the engine really isn’t under the same kind of load as when the car is moving through the air at 80+ MPH vs 0-30, save the initial shock of the clutch engagement when launching. On some of my older turbo cars with manual boost controllers, I’d never see peak boost in 1st and barely see a flicker in 2nd before I got good sustained load in 3rd and above. It takes 3rd in my Z to hit its peak 15# and always comes a little short in 2nd and a lot short (and is a spinning affair) through 1st.

Having BBG in the upper gears might help. Once you’re at 70 MPH, that ought to work out to right around 4000 RPM in 4th. If you’re under 65... I’d still try downshifting to 3rd and winding it out. By the time you shift out of 3rd into 4th, you’re probably turning north of 4500 RPM. Torque is declining steadily by then and well past it’s peak between 3000-3500 RPM. I’m through 1st so quick I don’t have a lot to see, but I have BBG at 18# and am sure it’s doing it’s thing. Back on the reflashes, I used to allow 23# and eliminated the taper that was set in the targets after 5200 RPM or so, and the car was spin city. The 18# BBG target improved it and in the heat of the summer, wouldn’t overwhelm the tires. Now? It’s still too much but the AVSA seems to be doing its thing well.

Whether it’s my driving method or I won the “clutch lottery”... I can’t say. I’ll replace the clutch if it quits doing what it needs to do, but I haven’t had it give me cause to replace it yet. Car turned 2 years old and the odometer rolled over 20k miles last month.

If you’ve got some room, I’d still try and use 3rd some more (I want to say it runs up to 83 or so)... or do a smooth roll in on the throttle in 4th. The sharper throttle response and quick spool are almost certainly all enabled and locked out are all going to work to make the torque build faster than stock. Softening the torque delivery using your right foot might help a lot.

Is there a video anywhere showing what clutch slip looks like at WOT on this platform? May be useful for people.

Now I'm slipping in 3rd gear on map 3 and 4th gear map 2. Just waiting for the ACT clutches to go up on their website.

Got my TSP 1 Tune and the guide states that it takes advantage of the On the fly Switching Feature. I was hoping to get information on how map 1 and 2 were setup but that option is not on the tune or have been locked out..

Does TSP just follow Ktuners default map 1 or 2?

Ktuner Notes:
Our Ktuner maps take full advantage of their exclusive On the Fly Map Switching feature. Typically we leave map slot 1 as a stock (or near stock) map, map slot 2 with a bit more power, and map slot 3 as our full power custom tune. If you are not familiar with how to utilize this feature, instructions are available here: http://www.ktuner.com/KTunerHelp/on_the_fly_map_switching.htm
